My grandmother would give us a bowl of fresh picked blueberries in milk or half and half with a little sugar sprinkled over the top. Probably the reason I seem to like just about anything with blueberries in it.

I grew up in So Fla and my best friend Chip lived down the street and had a Key Lime tree in his back yard that my mom turned into...you guessed it...Key Lime Pie!

Still my favorite dessert, hands down...

My mom's grasshopper pie. Not too sure whats in it, but I do know it has mint chocolate chip ice cream, covered with green dyed shredded coconut.

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

First choice, angel food cake with chocolate icing.

Second, made from scratch banana bread (with figs), smeared with real butter.

When in doubt, mumble

When my grandmother was making pies she would trim off the excess pie crust and cut it into strips. Sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon, bake for a little while and serve with a glass of milk, as a treat for me.

Also loved her homemade cherry and blueberry pies as well as her chocolate cakes.

I don't know why you excluded pie.

Fruit pie was and still is my favorite dessert.

I remember a lot of pudding and Jello, and some sort of simple pie or cake at Sunday dinner. A bowl of ice cream was a special treat. My parents experienced the depression and where very frugal.

Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves.
