stray dogthis is timely. I have one I was about to toss in the trash barrel. Now I'll cut it up before doing that.

Search Assist on Duck Duck Go says:
You cannot recycle a garden hose; it should be placed in the garbage. Garden hoses are considered "tanglers" and can cause significant issues at recycling facilities.
So it's just garbage. Throw it away in the trash.

flesheatingvirusCut and chuck here, too. I do pieces that are a couple of feet, though. Six to eight inches would take too long.

BigSwedeWouldn't it be considered a recycle material?
I keep them around, you never know when a piece of it will come in handy

straightshooter1The Florida sun plays havoc with pretty much everything left outside and hoses really don't last long hanging on a hose holder on the side of the house. I have 4 hoses, one on each side. When they get dry and brittle or rot, I just cut 'em up quickly into 3-4 feet long pieces and put 'em in a large trash bag and the garage truck takes 'em away.
I have started to buy metal hoses and the Flexzilla brand of regular hoses and all are now 3+ years old and still looking great.

GeorgeairIf you lived in GA or AL coil it up by the road and it’ll be gone before you get to the house.

selogicI guess we're lucky. If it'll fit in the can , they'll take it. There's a weight limit that the truck senses automatically but it's pretty damn high apparently.

Marlin FanChop into very small pieces and put it out with trash.

PatenYou don't need to chop it up. It's garbage. Coil it up, throw it in the trash can and they will either bury it or burn it or what ever they do with garbage where you are at. It's only a tangle hazard if you are trying to recycle it.

horsedocSend them to me, I have a black lab that eats the shit outta them. Has even pulled 3 frost free hydrants out of the ground because I left hoses on them.

sourdough44I recently had an old vacuum cleaner that I had to dispose of, regular upright. I threw it in my burning brush fire, torched it up. The remains would fit into a #10 coffee can. A hose would burn to virtually nothing.
Just an idea.

whanson_wiMy Town dump has a list of things they won't normally take - tires, appliances, electronics. Hoses aren't on the list - you made me look.
Twice a year, the Town will do a "clean-up", where they'll accept basically everything except medications and mercury. The fee to drop off tires, etc is very small. The Town would rather you drop these items off at the dump than force the road crews to fish them out of ditches.
Check with your collection company - do they have a similar clean-up weekend?

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

gearhoundsAnother vote for cut up and regular trash disposal. Did an old cracked and dry rotted length a month ago.
