Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Nobody wants them, and I do mean nobody!

Our recycling service won't take them. City sanitation won't take them. Both cite the same reason, calling hoses "tanglers" that can foul up their processing machinery.

This Saturday is the annual America Recycles event. A couple of weeks ago when I checked, Brave AI said yeah, sure, this event will take hoses. I thought to double-check today and see what else we have that they might take, and now the answer about hoses is a solid no.

Holy shit

I threw the last one I had in the dumpster. I don't have municipal trash pick-up but this is the first I heard they won't take garden hoses.
Can you just coil it up and put it in a plastic trash bag so they don't see it?

I put whatever brush and scrap lumber I accumulate in a large pile and get a burn permit every 2 or 3 years.

Sometimes foreign objects find their way into said pile.

I don't need trouble with the city by getting caught violating their rules. This is my home.

Just cut it up in about 6-8 inch lengths and put in regular trash bag along with other trash.

Never heard of that in my local.

You would think you could take some snips and cut it every three feet and putt it into your bin.

Shucks, I wish I had that problem. I have bought over 1000 feet of commercial 3/4" water hose over the past decade, yet every time I turn around I am looking for a hose. Currently have 200 feet in storage still in the shipping boxes. I guard them nearly as much as fuel cans.

Our city trash service takes them. Earlier this year I put a still serviceable hose out the day before hoping someone would grab it and use it. Someone did grab it, but only long enough to cut off the copper ends. Then the trash guys took it away.

Landscaping/Tree Care guy down the street took mine a few years ago. Cut it up into pieces to secure newly planted trees/shrubs.

Dad always cut them up in pieces and threw them in the campfire. Made the flames all kinds of colors.

I agree with the others who said to cut them into manageable lengths and then put them in the regular trash. A recip saw ought to work nicely. Use a metal-cutting blade if they are wire-reinforced, otherwise a wood-cutting blade.

I cut mine into 6-8” pieces with my hose cutters and throw it in the regular trash.

This but dont need to dice it up so small. My now passed friend raised dogs and had 300 feet of hoses on the property, weathering away. He has 20 pairs of old loppers for cutting branches. One pair made easy work of those old hoses and I filled a trash can with the pieces. You aren't throwing away a tangler if you cut it up.

The last time I needed to I just left it out overnight for a day or two, but I live in a better neighborhood now.

I've never heard of this. Always just throw them in the trash can.

Cut into pieces and put into trash bag and in the can.

Same method is used for things like toilets. Bag up in heavy duty contractor trash bags, bash the hell out of it with hammer into pieces. Into the trash can.
