I think Taking Chance is an excellent movie, especially on Memorial Day. It moves me to tears, every time.

That's my favorite one, if I turn on the TV and it's on, my afternoon is done.

That was the first movie I remember that having surround sound or seeing in the theater made the movie.

I recently watched this about Lafayette 'War Daddy' Pool which sparked me watching Fury. It now ranks as one of my favorite war movies.

After I watched more than a decade ago, I read Sledges book. That really filled in many moment to moment experiences he had that you might not pick up on otherwise.

One he writes about is from their experiences in the hills on Peleliu. He talks about how you can get so numb to the horror after a while.
While they are taking a break for lunch and not under immediate threat of fire, Snafu is tossing some pebbles, making a splashing sound.
There are some dead Japs nearby and one has the top half of his head missing, exposing the bottom half like an open bowl full of water.
Snafu's tossing the pebbles into that, just to see if he can hit his mark like a child's game, entertaining himself while waiting for the others to finish lunch.
That's the splashing noise.
