I bought the one you mentioned a few weeks ago and could not get it to communicate with my vehicle (2002 F-250 and 2015 Toyota Sienna) or my phone. I mainly wanted it for live streaming info.
I tried for several hours over 2 days using different apps and 2 different phones. I downloaded the free apps they suggested and even paid $10 for one. Pissed me off and I threw it in the garbage.
I cannot recommend it.
The directions and trouble shooting guide were terrrible.
I do have a wired scan tool I got from amazon that works great. Scans and resets codes just fine.
I have an ELM327 wifi device I got off ebay. I use DashCommand and OBDFusion on my iPad, I bought the extra Ford Enhancement data packs. My iPad picks up the wireless signal and I connect to it and then open the apps. Set up gauges and gather data, it pulls SAE and Ford data. They can view and reset codes. When I got mine it was; iOS use a wifi one and for android use bluetooth - not sure if this still a requirement.
They come in wifi or bluetooth. You need wifi for apple and bluetooth for anderoid for best performance.
The newer chips claim to work for either with both. You can't tell what version is shipping with the inexpensive clones
I have one that looks like this, down to the sticker color, but different print (I think, not sure where it is at the moment). It works fine for reading/resetting codes via Torque on Android.
The wifi ones are a pain in the ass because you can't look up the code on the 'net while connected to the OBD device. I had an intermittent issue on my wifes car (bad coil) that took longer to diagnose than it should have due to this when I had an iphone (3GS era) & a $100 wifi OBD adapter. If your phone can switch to cell data while on wifi, you should be good on this gripe.
Thank you for the replies to this thread. I'm trying to sort through the reviews and figure out which one will work for me. I am interested in something more advanced than simple. I'm not expecting to buy a $5,000 scan tool for $100, but I need something to dig reasonably deep with the ability to reset codes as needed.
I saw a few models with features that really interest me.
I appreciate the time and effort spent to answer my question.

It came today, I plunged it in. It took a while for the wifi to show up. It works fine with the iphone to read and reset the the trouble codes using OBDC doctor free version.
Just a caveat I needed to install, then connect then disconnect, then load my car profile from the net then reconnect for it to work. It could not be connected to the wifi and download my car profile at the same time.
Sounds more complicated than it is. Took 5 minutes total to be up and running.

For others that are looking to get an OBD scan tool: get a cheapo android phone off of craigslist and use it with a Bluetooth scan tool, I tried used a WiFi scan tool with my iPhone but it was a major pain-in-the-neck to connect & run so I gave up and went with a BT version.

Which BT scan tool do you use?

The one I bought is similar to this one; they don't make mine anymore....I can't attest to the quality of this particular scanner.
I paired it up with the Torque Pro app for Android - paid $5 for it.

I used to use the Torque App all the time when I had a Galaxy. With my iPhone I haven't found anything as good.

+1 for the BlueDriver. I have used mine on several cars, works great, if not the least expensive.

One thing I like about Bluedriver is that the builders say it is capable of two way communication, although they have not implemented it yet. Meaning you will be able to talk to vehicle components, not just hear what they have to say. Like actuating the ABS module during a bleeding procedure. That will be very nice for a not too expensive scanner.
It does read all available modules, engine, trans, ABS, airbag, BCM, etc, and allows you to clear all codes. It can check the state of the readiness monitors and has a live function that can read available PID's. It also reads mode 6 data, but it dosen't translate it yet (just gives pass/fail). You would need a different program for that depending on the vehicle you are checking.

Bluetooth will work with iOS, as long as it's BT4.0.
This is the one I grabbed a few weeks ago. Using it with Dash Command.
Actually just re-activated my old iPhone 6 to use solely for a Dash Command display! That way I can have my current phone doing phone things, like Waze, but still have the info readout from DC.

deepocean: did you ever buy a dongle?
Turns out the one I posted about doesn't play well with iOS or Dash Command. It needs a firmware update...that can only be done with an Android phone...
Since you said you have an Android, I will send it to you, free-of-charge, if you still need one.
