I’ve been carrying the brown streamlight microstream usb for a couple of years. No problems. The other budget light I recommend is Fenix. If money isn’t an issue Surefire is always the answer.

If you want to go all the way down to a keychain light, I highly recommend the O-Light i1R. I like it so much it's my new go-to gift for the holidays for all my friends.

https://olightworld.com/olight-i1r-2-eos-black

It has a 5 lumen mode and 150 lumen mode which last about 6 hours/20 min respectively, and is USB rechargeable.

I just got one of the new Streamlight Pocketmates. Pretty bright for the size

I do carry an Olight S1R Baton II as my regular carry light. I keep it in the little 5th pocket of my jeans.

I've been carrying a Nitecore Tini 2 for a while now....7 or 8 months I guess. So far I've been happy with it.

I carry a Fenix PD25 everywhere. Runs off a single CR123 and is about the size of a half roll of nickels. Puts out 550 lumens on high. Shockingly impressive light compared to the enormous things I used to have to carry at work that put out a tenth that output.

I seem to have misplaced it but I’ve had an Inova X5 for something like 15 years. It seems indestructible and the batteries last a long, long time.

I've gradually migrated over to the Fenix rechargeable models in 18650 size. Amazing service for several years out of all of them. Easily pocket carry yet capable of lighting up the trail for 100 yards.

Liked Fenix so much I even bought one of their recharger head-strap adjustable output & variable beam pattern models. Amazed at how useful it really is.

I would imagine that all of them are made in China , or assembled here from Chinese components .

I gave one to each of my family to keep on their keychains.

It does come with a short USB to micro USB cable.

Amazingly small and bright for it’s size.

Use an OLight S2R (18650) for pocket and H1R (RCR123A) for headlamp use daily.

I don't know how I got by for yrs without the headlamp!

Another Fenix fan. E series. I EDC the E01 or the E05 and find uses for it every day. And I have a few of the other models. Not expensive; no wailing and gnashing of teeth if misplaced (not uncommon) or even lost (not too often). They have been very reliable.

I am also a Fenix fan. 1000&1500 lumins.

Very dependable, and once you’re set up with the rechargeable battery and charger, they are amazing! I clip one in my cargo pocket and always use it at work. As I get older, more light is better!

Besides, I believe he needs a backup, my EDC is a Olight S1R. Zero issues for over 2 years now.

The i3T EOS is a nice little unit

I still like my S1 Baton

and recently upgraded to rechargeable CR123a batteries to use in it and my new Warrior 3.
