OK, it was never there, but I saw it.

Do your own take on a Moscow mule. Between the ginger beer and whatever else you add it will take away any of the horridness of cheap liquor.
I would suggest: 1 1/5 oz cheap scotch 4 oz ginger beer Squeeze of lemon juice A bit of 100 percent cherry juice

No need to be a pedant. The OP is looking for suggestions to try with his blended scotch. I gave him one that does change the flavor of his scotch. I've tried it myself with both scotch and bourbon.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." That was my thought. I like them.
Sigalert reminded me of a Rob Roy. I think they only work with a fairly mildly flavored scotch, but maybe yours is like that.

I think you can use scotch in most any whiskey cocktail and make an enjoyable drink. Whiskey Sour, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, etc. I enjoy a nice Old Fashioned, myself, and I think stronger-flavored liquor makes for a better drink in that case.
Try substituting scotch for bourbon in a Kentucky Mule, perhaps. I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine that it would be bad!

I’ve known several people that drink Scotch and milk. Really. I tried it. Awful

I have heard of it. I think some add sugar. It sounds foul to me. I don't care for milk as a drink anyway, but adding scotch seems awful.

That is bourbon. You could use scotch, but it would be a lot different. Not good in my mind, but maybe.

Many years ago I flew to Florida to help a buddy move back to Vermont. He met me at the airport with a half gallon of Scotch and some Pepsi. I’ve never touched Scotch since.

You're probably right, especially a peaty scotch. But something is less peaty and just plain whiskey like, maybe?

Nearly fifty years ago, when I was a Sergeant on the Police Department and my boss, a Captain, former WW2 Combat Marine, and all around pretty rough guy got an ulcer and could only drink alcohol (which he insisted on doing) if he cut it, 50-50, with milk. He settled on Scotch with the milk and seemed as happy as he ever could be.
Watching him consume that "thing" was as close as I ever got to that "cocktail." Still makes me shudder.
