I purchased a complete compliment of speedhut gauges and I have some questions about hooking up the fuel gauge. The previous owner had installed an aftermarket fuel gauge that was mounted to the bottom of the dash panel. It kinda sort of worked. It wasn't very accurate but it was accurate enough that I never ran out of gas which is good enough for me. Should I used the existing wiring or run my own? If I should run my own can anyone provide a location or cordinates of the fuel sending unit? My current tub is very rough and I have a replacement I am already working on. If I should run my own wires I am planning to cut an access panel in the tub and wire it. That way I don't have to mess with dropping the tank and is the fastest way back on the road. I don't mind doing this because the tub is already beyond saving. I am not cutting original jeep sheet metal. I would be cutting someone else crappy repair. When I do my tub swap I will make sure everything is done correctly. I need to get this thing on the road asap or I will be facing a mutiny from 50lb 8 year old girl who misses her jeep rides. I had a CJ5. That said when wiring is concerned on an old car I would replace the wiring whenever you can. You don't know what condition the existing wires are, nor if they were truly wired correctly by the person who put the aftermarket gage in the jeep. Cutting an access panel to get to the fuel sending unit is a great idea. My dad did this with a 2001 Suburban. __________________________ More blessed than I deserve. http://davesphotography7055.zenfolio.com/f238091154

Not to drift but if you’re ever looking for oem stuff try Rudy’s CJ’s in Findlay Ohio. Nice guy. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.
