A weekend riding northwest Arkansas
Spent the weekend riding the Arkansas 500. Set up camp at Mulberry Mountain and spent a few days riding the back roads.

Such a great time. It's a yearly benefit for the Turpentine Creek Wildlife refuge.

I had cousins there for about 20 years.

I understand that area is very scenic, and it looks it. State Route 7, IIRC, is specifically designated a scenic route.

Yep. There are a bunch of scenic highways in northwest and north central Arkansas that show off the Ozark Mountains. (Looks like Arkansas has 11 different designated "scenic byways".)

Highway 7 north of I40 is great. Highway 23 north of I40 is another popular route about an hour to the west, as is Highway 71 another 30 minutes or so west of that.

I especially like Highways 21 and 43 around the Ponca area.

I have driven AR-7 a few times in a car. It's especially fun at night.

Looks as if you had a good time!

Guilty as charged. Smile

But there were quite a few plates dirt bikes there. Some classic 70’s and 80’s bikes, too.

I just picked up a new Yamaha XSR700 and have half a mind to make it into a scrambler for some off road adventures.

Grew up in south central MO near Arkansas. Ozark national scenic riverways were our water parks. Beautiful area but moved on.

I think later this year I’ll take my kids on a visit to show them their heritage.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

2021 890 Adv R. It’s been a great bike so far. Needs a bit of suspension work to support my weight, but it still rides pretty damn well stock.

I grew up in Huntsville AR, so I was pretty familiar with a lot of NW AR. It really is a beautiful spot to spend a few days riding. Not much has changed in 40 years.

Huntsville and east, no.

West of Huntsville, in the NWA Metroplex area, it's completely different. Hell, it has completely changed from when I moved here 20 years ago! It's been one of the fastest-growing areas of the country for the past decade or so.
