Rule #1: Use enough gun |
I sure hope Tubby can pull it off. Sessions actually has the audacity to run ads touting his support for Trump, and how tough he is in standing up to corruption. It would be comical if it weren't for the fact that he might reclaim his old office. Hopefully the poll is a sign that enough Alabama voters see him for the spineless scumbag he is. https://www.al.com/news/2020/0...-alabama-runoff.html A survey by the polling firm Cygnal released today shows Tommy Tuberville with a lead of 12 percentage points over Jeff Sessions in the runoff for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. Tuberville was the choice of 51.5% of the respondents to 39.5% for Sessions. Nine percent were undecided. Cygnal, based in Montgomery, said the results are based on responses from 645 likely Republican voters to a survey conducted March 6-8, a few days after last Tuesday’s primary. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.86%. The runoff is three weeks from today. Alabama Daily News first reported the poll. Tuberville led the seven-candidate field in last week’s primary with 33%, with Sessions just behind at 32%. Tuberville, who was Auburn’s football coach from 1999-2008, is making his first run for political office. Sessions is trying to win back the seat he left to accept President Trump’s appointment as attorney general. Trump turned on Sessions after Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Sessions said professional ethics required him to recuse because worked in Trump’s campaign. Trump had stayed mostly quiet about the Alabama Senate race until last week, when he renewed his criticism of Sessions’ decision in a tweet. Brent Buchanan, Cygnal’s CEO & Founder, said Sessions will have a hard time overcoming Trump’s criticism. “Now that Trump has gotten involved, it’s unlikely the former attorney general will be able to overcome the gap in how voters see Tuberville’s as more strongly favorable," Buchanan said. "Trump may not be able to pull a candidate across the finish line, but he sure can keep a candidate from getting there first.” A key factor will be how supporters of U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne vote in the runoff. Byrne finished third in the primary with 25%. Cygnal’s survey showed that 45% of Byrne voters plan to vote for Tuberville, while 38% will pick Sessions. Seventeen percent were undecided. The Republican nominee will face U.S. Sen. Doug Jones in November. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. What are Tuberville's credentials? Being a football coach is no advantage, in my eyes--maybe even a detriment. (I don't like football.) flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Not being a career politician or a lawyer are good starts. Having a career where your employment hinges on performance doesn't hurt either.

I respectfully disagree. Tuberville has no business in the U.S. Senate. Ask Tom Osborn about his course in the House. Football coaches should stick to football. Trump screwed Sessions hard and dry. Sessions knows the ropes and we desperately need someone who can hit the ground running. Just my thoughts and opinion. I don't care which one wins the Primary, as long as that one wins the general. This is going to be a tough year, and we need to hold the senate.

Sessions showed his true colors yeah, Trump rode him hard, but Sessions showed himself to be a quisling to the Republican cause we don't need another quisling my Puggle would make a better Senator than Sessions - at least my dog has loyalty and some character [B] Against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC

Husband, Father, Aggie, all around good guy! |
I can see positives for session as he had the job before and was a good Senator. He was a terrible AG!! Who ever wins needs to be able to win in November, that is all that really matters, you guys are already down one Republican because y’all couldn’t choke it down and see that Moore was being Kavanaugh’d. So y’all gave us a Democrat and the slimmest of leads over Schumer being the senate Leader. If you don’t hold the ball you are on Defense. Dems play to control the ball, we need to learn that and get off our house divided horses some times. Go Tuberville, Go Sessions!! Just win in November

I'm sure coach Tuberville knows how to surround himself with KNOWLEDGEABLE assistants... "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

OMG, no! Sessions screwed Trump and the rest of us freedom loving Americans. How quickly some have forgotten what Sessions did with his BS recusal. His action (inaction) led to avalanches of bogus investigations that have really bogged down the Trump presidency. Fucking pissed me off to no end. Of course he didn't know it then, but the biggest mistake Trump ever made of his presidency is hiring Sessions, imo. By the same reasoning of some, Trump should have never run for POTUS, right? Don't Panic |
This. One further comment: Alabama needs to be sending two of the correct flavor to the US Senate in November, regardless of who wins the runoff. Schumer for ML = no more decent judges, no confirmations of conservative nominees for posts, even if Trump wins. And if he were to lose, a Republican Senate would be key to block the Bern/Senility 2020 agenda. May not be a choice that appeals to you, but if it came down to Schumer for Majority Leader, or voting XYZ, there is everything to be said for XYZ.

Not exactly. You can thank Richard Shelby-RINO. Shelby is a hard core never-Trumper who used to be a Dem. He refused to endorse Moore in the general election. I recall some news accounts that Shelby effectively caused GOP voter turnout to drop by 30% or more. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. My thoughts exactly. The swamp exists because of people like Sessions. Period. ——————————————— The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Psalm 14:1

Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
Sessions is out of his fucking mind, so there's that. He has no business anywhere near a government position ever again. Go away, crazy old man.

Moore was a horrible nominee. I can hold my nose and pull the lever for a lot of folks but even I could not stomach Moore. I am not a fan of Sessions and I don't know if Tubbs will be a good senator or not but it does not matter, whoever wins the runoff will get my vote in November. The point is to get rid of Doug Jones, all other points made for or against Tuberville or Sessions can't possibly stack up as high as Jones staying. __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/
