Diawa BG MQ Link

Two nearly identical spinning reels, same size, same listed price, yet the 6000 holds more line.

J-Braid Capacity
BG MQ 5000D-H 30/230, 40/160 Line per Crank: 37.8
BG MQ 6000D-H 30/320, 40/240 Line per Crank: 39.9

Spool size seems to be the only difference.
Why is the 5000 even available, there must be some reasoning I am not understanding.

The 5000 has slightly less bulk and weight. The only reason to get the 6000 is for the added line capacity. I like less bulky reels. I would get the 5000 unless you are targeting fish that like to run far. Using a Shimano Vanford 2500, I've caught 47 inch Striped Bass. Recently, I bought a Shimano Vanford 5000 just because it has a larger handle and I wanted to spool it with 40 pound braid. Reeling in a 47 inch Bull Red Drum was no problem even after it made three long runs.

End use will be Surf fishing Outer Banks, North Carolina.
St. Croix Customer Appreciation Day purchase:
St. Croix Mojo: MSS106MHMF2, 10’ 6” Line 12-25 Lb., Lure 2-6 oz.
St. Croix Mojo: MSS110MHMF2, 11’ Line 15-40 Lb., Lure 3-8 oz.

From video below:
“It’s basically the same as the 5000, except a deeper cut spool.”

The video states that the spools are interchangeable between the 6000 and 5000.

Weight
BG MQ 5000D-H 15.3 ounces
BG MQ 6000D-H 15.2 ounces (I assume difference is from deeper cut in spool)

Bulk and weight do not appear to be different.

Perhaps there is some logic in line weight and standard available line lengths?
