MikeinNCTX is a constitutional carry state now, but I still have and will continue to get/carry a “License to Carry”.
I could carry under LEOSERA but I don’t want the hassle of finding a department to qual me, and having to keep up with a current copy of my scores. The LTC was a one time shoot and I’m GTG.
Although I practice and run myself thru my old police course and cg quals at least once a year. And I shoot the 5,5,5 every time I visit the range. (5 rnds @ 5 yds in 5 sec. Target is a 5” circle)

egregoreTennessee got Constitutional Carry in 2021. I got my Handgun Carry Permit before that, in 2013. I will keep it, and renew it when due, for when I visit neighboring states. Since it is hard plastic with my name, address and mugshot on it, I could use it as ID, but I have a driver's license for that, so it will only be shown to a LEO on request.

NismoYes, and yes. Our permit is literally a piece of paper. We have to laminate it ourselves.
They are trying to transition to a plastic card, which is not yet recognized statewide so, we have the paper permit, and a plastic permit card. They told us to just carry both, but the paper one is the "real" one.
My Arizona one is a plastic card. I only carry that when I go to Nevada.

OgieI have a lifetime license to carry that I have had since it was first offered several years ago. There is no need for it within my state anymore but I would need it to legally carry in most neighboring states.

DetonicsMk6Qualified under the retired officer provisions of LEOSA but have a CCW permit as my retiring agency requires annual qual on the same course active officers shoot. That course includes clearing a double feed which is surprisingly difficult to do on the J-frame .38 I carry 90% of the time.

monoblokWashington is a right to open carry state, so no
carry card is required. However a permit IS required for
concealed carry. When I do open carry (typically backwoods, in a Kenai chest rig) I still have my CPL card with me simply because it's always in my wallet. And of course when I'm concealed carrying, having that card on me is mandatory. So the first two choices both kind of apply, given certain specific circumstances.

SFCUSARETArizona has always been a free open carry state and became a constitutional concealed state in 2010. Before that a ccw permit was required for concealed carry. I acquired my ccw permit prior to 2010 and have kept it in force for other states reciprocity agreements with AZ and to not having to go through a NICS check while purchasing a firearm in the state.

SpinZoneFl required that you have your permit with you if you are carrying your gun.
As of this month the laws changed to allow concealed carry without a permit however, you must have a valid ID so "papers" are still required.

straightshooter1I don't HAVE to have a permit to carry concealed, since 7/1/23, but I have had one since the inception and plan to keep renewing mine until..., because (1) by having one I can purchase a gun from an FFL without a waiting period and (2) I can use it to carry concealed in other states, like PA where one daughter lives.

BlackmoreConstitutional carry here but at 5 years for just $10 and usual small town turnaround <48 hours, most still get it for other state reciprocity.

MuddflapKansas is constitutional carry, so I guess I don’t have to legally, but I still get my permit renewed, and carry it.

220-9erI've had it for decades and the no permit law passed in recent years.
So yes, I carry it, and it's required in some states I occasionally visit. In the unlikely event that I'm ever involved and my qualification to carry might be questioned, it might clarify that issue in the short term.
Also keeps me from any wait if I happen to make a purchase.
I'll renew when it expires in a year.
