First of all, what is a graphite tire? And why can't it be patched?

Are you sure it’s a tire and not a wheel? I’ve seen graphite and carbon fiber wheels.

Tire. She has a bolt going through the tread, but was told it's not patchable due to it being a graphite tire. I've never heard that term before.

Is your friend female? Maybe the tire shop is trying to take advantage of her.

Definitely never heard of a graphite tire!

Sounds like a failure to communicate in some way to me.

Seems Cali is working to eliminate on of the chemicals used in conventional tire production because it has (the chemical) killed lots of CoHo Salmon off the west coast.

Says a few manufacturers are looking into replacing the 6PPD chem with Graphene.

Its also reported to reduce rolling friction and it comes up on google for bike road tires.

Could be a misunderstanding or an outright lie. If she knows the difference between a ‘64 Buick Skylark and a ‘63 Pontiac Tempest, I’d go with the tire guy is telling an outright lie.

Is the tire a run flat? If you squint real hard, maybe run flat sounds like graphite?

I think there's a failure to communicate somewhere. And if something the size of a bolt went in the tread, the hole is too large to patch anyway.

That is what I'm thinking as well. Just wonder where she got graphite tire from.

Nah, it's fine. You put 4 or 5 plugs in it and then grind em down and patch it. For graphite tires you plug it with pencils. Big Grin

These go to eleven.
