Here's a short list of stations still on the air and their frequencies: https://radiofidelity.com/best...s-sw-radio-stations/

Does your radio have single sideband capability and is it continuous coverage? By this I mean from about .5 to 30 megahertz without gaps. Broadcast only band SW receivers generally have only the sections of the spectrum that contain broadcast band stations. If it’s continuous coverage(no gaps)you may find a variety of other type transmissions to listen to. There are marine and air, HAM, various commercial and military, although not as many as there used to be. SSB capability is almost a must as most use it. You can find frequency lists on the net. I like to scroll through marine, mil and SW air bands. With most, you have to constantly search as most are very short in duration. Sat comms have become dominant and many SW radio comms have disappeared. Still possible to find some. Look for a cheap used antenna tuner too. It can improve your signal reception.

I have a Tecsun radio which I turn on from time to time. I can find some of the time broadcasters. There are some fundamentalist Christian stations I can find, but they are too tedious to listen to for very long. It is all about the antenna. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

If you are not hearing anything, as mentioned, you have may capacitor issues or need a different antenna. There is still PLENTY of SWL listening available

Yep, still have my Zenith Transoceanic. If you open the back, there is a date on those. I'd have to dig it out, 1963 I think. It's still working last time I checked. It runs on 12 D batteries or a plug in 12v transformer. ____________________________________________________ New and improved super concentrated me: Proud rebel, heretic, and Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal. Only the strong survive |
The nicest ones have the Wavemagnet antenna which is built into the carrying handle. The other one I have has the telescoping antenna as part of the case and is easy to break. 41

I bought a Sony ICF-SW7600GR years ago. It is an excellent little radio, and I'm sure I haven't used it to its full potential. I hear they don't make these anymore.
