My internet speed was a little slow so I was messing with things. I tried turning off my router's wifi (linksys ea3500) and it will not turn off. The browser screen shows it disabled and I even changed the password but all wifi devices are still connected. I even renamed the wifi network and turned off broadcast ssid but my phone still sees the old name. I had my phone forget the wifi connection and when I reconnected I used the old password and it still worked but the new one did not. I also changed the router login and router name and those things changed but not anything related to the wifi settings. The router browser page shows wifi disabled but it is still broadcasting. I rebooted it through the browser several times and even unplugged it for a minute with no change. I checked for firmware updates but did not see any. Any ideas? I think the router is between 3-5 years old.

There should be a hard reset button in the back that you press and hold with a paper clip. Reset to factory. Update firmware. Power cycle your modem too before you fire the router back up.

Does your phone still see it when it is unplugged? Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Is it possible that your wireless SSID is on whatever modem your provider uses? I've seen people with wireless activated on both the modem and router.

Well I ended up going back to factory settings. Which I did not want to do because I always have trouble getting the ip camera dynamic dns whateveryoucallit working. Ugh I also have to get the to WAP working again too. After a factory reset it is still behaving the same way so I guess a new router is in order. Thanks for the responses. I do have the at&t router broadcasting but is has a different name.

Ok. Looks like user error. My two wireless access points were still broadcasting even when you turn off the router's wireless. It has been a while since I messed with them I guess I have the wire less name programmed into them and have to go into their ui to change. I assumed changing the name on the router's wireless network would change what the WAP broadcast. I guess not. I still have one problem which came up which is I lost contact with my NVR over the internet. It says there is a problem using port 80. Thanks for the look...
