Grady Judd That's my sheriff. A friend who's husband is a retired police chief back home up in the north east talked to my wife this morning about Grady. He is very well known back home. My old hometown (Winter Haven) sheriff. He's loved by the good folks of Polk County. No so much by the criminals. He's relentless. A great guy and a great sheriff for Polk County. What Archie said. Well, there’s outrage from the suspect’s outraged family. In addition to the usual comments about their loved one’s killing being unjustified, it’ll be interesting to see how his obituary reads. I'm speaking of the self righteous media decrying a life cut short by evil firearms, and also by excessive force by an uncaring and heavy handed police agency (somewhat prematurely, as the shooter is not yet a sworn officer). Taxi drivers (which is how I would classify Uber) are always on the list of most dangerous professions. Guy said he had a gun and was acting aggressively. Good on the Uber driver for stepping up and protecting himself and his passenger. This is also an excellent example of why dash cams in cars aren't a bad idea. The video doesn't lie. | |||

I wish we had more CLEO like him in the Bay Area. Most counties around here the sherrif is such a political hack. I won’t even go into what SF county elected as a sheriff a few years back. I have to think the deputies actually enjoy working for him becuse they know he has their back. I like his blunt no BS answers to to the media. I think if I was driving for Uber I’d have several cams running. Overt and covert. Just as a CYA | |||

I'm a little disappointed reading this thread. I saw a bit of the press conference on TV and my first thought was this Sheriff sounds a lot like the Sheriff from Polk County a few years back. Then I thought I hope there's more Florida Sheriffs just like these two. Not until I read the thread does it dawn on me it's the same Polk County Sheriff. | |||
