Senate Votes to Defy FCC, Reinstate Net Neutrality
WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 18: Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai waits to be introduced during a forum April 18, 2018 in Washington, DC. FCC Chairman Pai and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue participated in an Agriculture Department forum to discuss "improving e-connectivity in rural America." The Senate voted on Wednesday to save the FCC’s Obama-era net neutrality rules, which are set to expire on June 11.

Democrats used a little-known legislative mechanism known as the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to force a vote. Three Republican senators — Susan Collins (R-ME), John Kennedy (R-MS), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voted for the measure.

Despite the Senate’s best efforts to have the rules reinstated, the bill has little chance of passing the Republican-controlled House.

The Commission — now chaired by Ajit Pai — repealed the order in April.

With the death of Net Neutrality, what we should be working on now is removing the old legislation that protects the monopolies of the AT&Ts and Comcasts of the world.

Unlikely to get anywhere in the House, and Trump would be unlikely to sign such legislation, anyway. So y'all that think the ISP monopolies are all sweetness and light, and have your best interests at heart, can breath easy.

Agree, AMAZON & Google are bigger threats than AT&T/Comcast to taking over the world, imo

Yeah, because Amazon & Google have much bigger monopolistic locks on end-user connectivity than do at&t and Comcast.

I so look forward to the day when Repubs have enough of a majority in the Senate where the senate majority leader can tell Collins and Murkowski their services are no longer needed or wanted.

I vote against Lisa the Non-Republican in every primary. The general election doesn’t really matter for her.
