We took the scenic route home from Houston to Fort Worth, through the edge of hill country. It’s been years since I’ve been down around New Braunfels and it was beautiful. We went to Natural Bridge Caverns and did the tour. Pretty amazing. The cave system is 18 stories down... and 18 back up!

Wow, that looks great.

Was it a long walk? How steep? How difficult was it?

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Very steep in several parts and more than a little tight. About 1/3 was easy going. The guides said that the cavern is 18 stories below ground. It was crazy humid, like 90+ %. That surprised me, I expected it to be cool.

It is cool to see. Wet as hell, too.

That's a great cave! If you like to spelunk you need to take the kids to Georgetown, TX and go go Inner Space Caverns. I used to be the General Manager and it is a great cave to tour. Gentle walk (about 3/8 mile) and there are some Ice Age fossils that were found there including a complete skeleton of an adolescent Saber Tooth Cat.

If you want something more challenging, drive out IH10 west of San Antonio to Sonora. The Caves of Sonora is another that is worth the drive. The formations a fantastic and not typical of caves in Texas since this cave is what is termed an "Acid" cave. Formations are different than the typical limestone caves in Texas formed from underground rivers.

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.
