https://americanmilitarynews.c...visitors-and-donors/ The U.S. Capitol police have reportedly been secretly surveilling members of Congress and their staff, as well as constituents and supporters who come to visit their offices. Politico first reported Monday, based on the accounts of three individuals familiar with the matter, that the Capitol Police have been monitoring congressional staffers and visitors. The practice has reportedly been ongoing since crowds of demonstrators and rioters stormed the Capitol last year on Jan. 6. The new surveillance practices reportedly came about after former Department of Homeland Security official Julie Farnam was brought on to help run the part of the Intelligence and Interagency Coordination Division for the Capitol Police A document provided to Politico, Farnam told analysts to run “background checks” on people lawmakers planned to meet, including their donors and associates. If staff were listed as meeting attendees, Capitol Police intelligence analysts were also asked to check the staffers social media accounts. Analysts were also directed to investigate who owns the various buildings where members of Congress would hold meetings. Some analysts were specifically tasked with searching tax and real estate records to determine the ownership of properties lawmakers visited. In one case, the unit scrutinized a meeting that Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) held with donors in a private home. “These reports are incredibly disturbing,” Scott spokesperson McKinley Lewis told Politico. “It is unthinkable that any government entity would conduct secret investigations to build political dossiers on private Americans. The American people deserve to know what Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi knew and directed, and when. Senator Scott believes the Senate Rules Committee should immediately investigate.” One source told Politico that several Capitol Police intelligence analysts have already reported the practice to the department’s inspector general. “Whatever they think that sounds like for security, it sounds dangerously close — if not already over the line — to spying on members of Congress, their staff, their constituents and their supporters,” Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), told Politico. “Anybody involved with implementing this without making it known to the actual members of Congress should resign or be fired immediately,” Armstrong said. “And I’m not big on calling for resignations.” Armstrong discussed the reported surveillance practices with Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday night. “Capitol Hill Police are spying on elected members of Congress, their staff, and private citizens,” Carlson tweeted. Armstrong, a former criminal defense attorney, told Carlson the Capitol Police are gathering “all kinds of information” on constituents, supporters and donors. Carlson said his Fox program had reached out to Capitol Police Sergeant at Arms William Walker about the alleged secretive surveillance practice, but said Walker denied it. In a statement to Politico, Capitol Police said it searches for public information about people meeting with lawmakers and said it coordinates the work with members’ offices. Scott’s staff told Politico that while Capitol Police provide some information about their surveillance practices, lawmakers may not be aware of the scope of those practices. Armstrong said he doesn’t know of any members of Congress who have been told about the “very, very bad” practice. Armstrong told Carlson he didn’t know about the depth of the alleged secret surveillance practice until recently. “I think it’s important to recognize that they’re doing this and secret surveillance on American citizens without probable cause is never okay,” Armstrong said. “It’s surely not being done for security reasons,” he continued. “If it was done for security reasons they wouldn’t be worried about casting us in a negative light and they’d be coordinating with our offices.” Rachel Levinson-Waldman, the deputy director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the nonprofit Brennan Center for Justice, told Politico the Capitol Police’s surveillance practices are “of questionable legality,” adding that federal law protects against “collecting and keeping of data about people without a specified and authorized purpose.” Also: https://www.politico.com/news/...ocial-media-00000948 _________________________

The reporting makes it sound as if they're surveilling everybody. Surely they're only watching everybody except those with a D next to their name.

Texas 22nd district Rep. Troy Nehls announced that one of his staffers inadvertently caught three Capitol Police members inside his office taking photos of various things, while Congress was on Thanksgiving holiday break and the office was unoccupied. I'm curious why this incident is only now being announced to the public. Also, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is reporting a sign in front of her congressional office has been repeatedly vandalized and yet the Capitol Police refuse to investigate. @ 8 minute video https://rumble.com/embed/vrt7is/?pub=4

It's what the Left does best; use the full power of government to spy on and harass their political opponents. And of course they won't DO SHIT to the USCP for this, AND they are not subject to FOIA so we will never know the extent of what's going on here. ![]()

This is just another cog in the leftists agenda wheel. The weaponization of all of the departments. Obama’s little secret that I hate to say has worked well. It started with the IRS, moved to the DOJ, FBI, NSA, CIA, DOD, now the HLS. The “Great Purge” is continuing with the shot used as a means to remove military members, Federal LE officers, doctors, RNs refusing the shot. They are now moving to take any Republican who is not a RINO down using their leftist strike forces. Targeting conservatives as their agenda continues, separating us from our employment, doctors, and yes even our families. The environment created by the Marxists is so toxic. Shameful that our Republican Representatives with the exception of a few are so Friggen weak! ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Too bad the Republicans are too stupid to place hidden cameras and mics in their offices. I assume they have their own offices scanned for bugs on a daily basis?

Anyone that believes dear Nancy when she says she has no power over the Cap police is out of their mind. It’s high time to put EVERY officer that was present on 1/6 before a congressional committee and see exactly what they were told to do, not do, and why. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I'm not going to weigh in on either side of this issue at this point, but are we ready to buy into this story fully given no real evidence having been provided thus far? ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. If it I didn't believe this were politically motivated, I'd say it was a fine idea. A great way to catch criminals consorting with other criminals.

Officers Gunther Hashida, Kyle DeFreytag, Howard Liebengood and Jeffrey Smith won't be able to testify. I wonder what they could have told us. ____________________

This right here. I'm not saying this is baseless, but the whole thing reeks of spin at the very least. Running "background checks" on visitors has likely gone on for decades, an probably SHOULD be going on. I hate the term "background check" because it has no definition. As a cop, I've done applicant background investigations that took weeks. I've also run criminal histories that take seconds. As an FFL, I run NICS checks that are pretty "instant". By varying standards, these things are all "background checks" and yet the intent, scope, and results are all very different.

I hear you, but who trusts Nancy Pelosi, her staff, and House Demokrats? This is the TX rep who Modern Day Savage mentioned. Did he make the story up? https://nehls.house.gov/about-troy More on Rep Nehls' allegations: https://www.wfaa.com/article/n...91-a204-194ee35c9ac9 I will never say all Republican Senators or Congressmen are perfect, but my default is to believe any of them over any Demokrat.

I've watched several interviews with Rep. Nehls and a few additional details have come out about the incident involving Capitol Police spying in his office. Initially, on the Saturday afternoon over the Thanksgiving break, a uniformed officer claims to have found the door to Rep. Nehl's office open, goes in to investigate, notices the white board used to plan his legislative agenda, notices some "suspicious" words including the word "body armor", finds a handwritten diagram of the Rayburn building, takes photos of these things, and reports this to his supervisor. The info is kicked up the chain and, the following Monday, three Capitol Police investigators "dressed as construction workers" confront one of the staffers who dropped into the office unexpectedly. The congressman claims he was working on legislation that would prevent body armor from being purchased from China, and the handwritten diagram was just a map for someone. The Capitol Police Inspector General has opened an investigation. Just the News John Solomon interview with Rep. Nehls. Maybe he should lock his door if he's actually worried about the police coming in. How about the police check the doors to see if they are locked when it is off hours ... like any good cop would do and if the door is unlocked then go in to make sure anybody that is in there is supposed to be? I guess Rep. Nehis would prefer to have security like they had at the Watergate.... see the door lock is taped and just remove the tape and move on... then come back an hour later and it's been re-taped and then think maybe to call somebody? How do you know that the door wasn't locked? Why didn't the Capitol Police contact Rep. Nehls immediately after the door was found open? Why did the Capitol Police open a criminal investigation on Rep. Nehls without first interviewing him? If his allegations are accurate, why did Capitol Police investigators dress as construction workers? Little suspicious that a congressman investigating the January 6th riot, checking on the well being of rioters held in the D.C. jail, and critical of the Capitol Police response was the one who had an office door discovered open. Did any other congressman have their office doors found open?
