Great stuff, but if he thinks Under Armour is too pricey, I don't think Duluth will fit his budget.

Their stuff is pricey, but well worth the money.

Actually, there's an outlet store near me that sells their online returns at a substantial discount, so I hope to check out some Armachillo, Fire Hose, and Dry Fly pants next week!

If you want your swamp crotch stench multiplied by 1,000.
I have a pair of the underbritches and they are the most comfortable thing I have ever worn but goodnight when one sweats the swap crotch stench is out of control. I have the bucknaked line from Duluth and this issue is not as bad.

After 34 years on the railroad before retiring ...remember, it NEVER rains, gets hot or cold on the railroad Big Grin...I found that a pair of light colored BDUs and a light colored Carhartt T shirt (I still wear this combo daily in summer) was as good as it got for me (shorts were verboten)...hydration was critical and one of those "soak in the water" towel thingies you wrap around your neck. These got me through many years till I said goodby Big Grin...and remember, corn starch IS your friend!!!

Here's where I'd start. Dickies uniform looking clothes made with plenty of polyester. It will wash up pretty well it wears like iron it dries very fast. I've been wearing this sort of clothing for about 25 years now and honestly it's about as good as I can find. I'm wearing Cintas but can't see too much difference.

The key is the fast drying properties. For gods sake avoid denim, and don't be afraid to try long sleeves, the old timers wore it to avoid the sun exposure.

I will second Sierra Trading Post. Sign up to get their emails and they will send you 20-30% off deals and/or free shipping once or twice a week. I get lightweight carhartt pants from them for about $20 each for my hot/humid work pants. This year I got a bunch of lightweight polly/cotton blend shirts made by Bass from them that are great for outside work as well.
