Wife and I will be in Destin, FL, 9/16 - 9/20, for a convention for my work. We are entertaining the idea of a fishing charter on Sunday, 9/17, and wondering if anyone here can recommend a charter there in Destin. We would also be open to splitting the cost with another couple. I think no more than 5 hours as I’m not sure how she would hold up longer than that.

You can decide inshore vs offshore…wife may tolerate inshore better. Honestly, I like eating redfish and speckled trout just as much as amberjack and snapper anyway….plus no long boat ride and more time fishing. One of the offshore charters i can remember was on HIGH COTTON….can’t recall if that was out of destin or orange beach though. In 0:01

Reach out to Harbor Walk Charters. You can book on line or go down to their hut on Harbor Walk. We have been on a number of charters over there since I sold my boat and never disappointed. Lots of experienced captains in Destin. 5 hours is a pretty short trip if you want to get on big fish. CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

I do not know how they do it there but I would not go out on one of the huge chum boats with with 25 or thirty people on board. to me that is not fishing. Find a small operator that you can have a more personal experience with. Will be more expensive. but won't be a "like going to the mall" experience. To me that is a total waste of time and $. ymmv "Practice like you want to play in the game"

We used to have a good time with Captain Scott in Destin on a small boat called "Ten Cranks-Up". It was a smaller, older boat that undercut the expensive competition. It wasn't a charter but it wasn't a "party boat" either. It was something in between. But he knew how to find the fish. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
