Stephen Miller Slams Robert De Niro as a ‘Sad, Broken Old Man’ After the Actor Called Him a ‘Nazi’: ‘He Hasn’t Made Anything Worth Watching in at Least 30 Years’

Stephen Miller, Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security advisor, lashed out at Robert De Niro during a Fox News interview, calling the Oscar winner “a sad, broken old man” who “has been degrading himself on camera with one horrific film after another.” Miller’s rant came days after De Niro appeared on MSNBC and blasted Miller as a “Nazi” while talking about how Trump “will not want to leave” the White House and will seek an unconstitutional third term as U.S. president.

“He set it up with, I guess he’s the Goebbels of the cabinet, Stephen Miller,” De Niro said, comparing Miller to Adolf Hitler’s chief propagandist. “[Miller is] a Nazi! Yes he is, and he’s Jewish. He should be ashamed of himself.”

Miller was asked about the criticism while on Fox News’ “Hannity” and fired back: “Robert De Niro is a sad, broken old man who is mostly enraged because he hasn’t made anything worth watching in at least 30 years. Probably the longest string of flops, failures, embarrassments.”

“This man has been degrading himself on camera with one horrific film after another for my entire adult life, and he is not taken seriously by anybody,” Miller added. “Not by his family, friends, or community. He is a shell of a man, and everybody disregards everything he says.”

Variety has reached out to De Niro’s representative for comment.

It should be noted that Miller’s claim that De Niro has had “the longest string of flops, failures, embarrassments” over the last 30 years is entirely false. While the actor has had his share of box office disappointments, the last three decades of De Niro’s filmography includes comedy blockbusters like “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers,” the crime classic “Heat,” Oscar-winning hits like “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Joker” and more. He’s also picked up three Academy Award nominations over the last 30 years for “Silver Linings Playbook,” “The Irishman” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

De Niro is one of the most outspoken Trump critics in Hollywood. During his recent MSNBC interview, which was conducted right after the most recent No Kings protest against the Trump administration, the actor urged Americans to continue to fight back against the president.

“We can’t let up,” De Niro said. “Cannot let up on him because he is not going to leave the White House. He does not want to leave the White House. He will not leave the White House. Anybody thinks he, oh, he’ll do this, he’ll do that, it’s just deluding themselves.”

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but why keep giving these unhinged loonies more attention? A short response would’ve sufficed: “we’re not concerned with the rants of a washed up actor”. Every time Trump in particular or anyone else responds with these diatribes it just makes them look thin skinned and reactionary. Ignoring or at least minimizing them takes away their power.

I think it would be good to counter whatever these morons say w/ facts that contradict whatever they are positing.

Don't give them attention. Don't give them an inch. But point out specific facts that prove them wrong. They call <someone> a nazi, point out facts that prove them wrong for ALL to hear. Don't just call him a failure.

Not for the moron's benefit, but for those that may still be educated and influenced.

I think Vance has been doing this well.

If Trump taught us anything, it's to fight back. Counterpunch. Let no insult, threat, or criticism go unanswered.

When they speak, we bring it.

Indeed. There's no shortage of celebrities and news services looking to get a 'hot take' or an unexpected rant.

I wish for once that these morons would be publicly tasked to define what a fascist or nazi is. And then give specific examples for why those terms apply to trump or any conservative. They will fail that task spectacularly.

Let them prove for all to see that they don't even have any fundamental standing. Let alone any high ground.

There are many videos of "Man on the street" interviewers and Turning Point speakers rebutting people using the term "fascist," asking for a definition or how it applies to the MAGA crowd. Everytime, there's no intelligent reply--just random insults.

It always puzzled me when we give credence to actors. They may be skilled at acting but who wants to hear their political opinions. As Trump would say "they are low IQ people"

I don't think we (conservatives) do.

The problem is that they influence the low IQ people on the left. A large part of the population have below average intelligence. A large part of the population is young (w/ a natural bias towards the left). Celebrities have influence over these people.

I honestly would have respected his response to De Niro's BS more if he had just said "So?". Celebrity opinions aren't worth legitimizing and talking shit about his career lowered him a level.

If you are referring to Chicago, that percentage is much higher now than when you were here.
