Rear shocks have taken a dump on the rear of the Suburban. Of course it has the magnaride and auto air leveling shocks.
They are about $475 a shock. The Magnaride is fantastic on the Highway but complete and utter crap on regular roads and especially gravel roads.
Most folks seem to swap it out for standard style shocks. One needs to fool the computer into thinking the Magnaride is functioning properly so you don’t get any errors on the dash. You also have to bypass the air compressor and loose the auto level feature.
The rears are a must and must be done now and I don’t really want to loose the air leveling option.
Found a plug and play shock that maintains the air leveling system and bypasses the maganride system.
It’s by a company called Arnott to which I am not familiar but they utilize a Goodyear airbag system and an Eibach shock absorber.
Both of those are solid companies and the unit is made in the United States. Most folks seem to like these on the forum and say they ride far better than factory Magnaride when working.
Hopefully this is true.
I found them on RockAuto for $512 for the pair after tax, shipping, and the usual 5% off Rock Auto Coupon Code.

Fronts aren’t shot yet, well actually one was replaced under warranty so I am guessing won’t be long till the other side goes.
Arnott makes a front coilover that deletes the Magnaride ride as well and they are like $450 a piece.

One can swap over to a standard coilover and use what are called shocksims to trick the computer. The shocksim kit is $225. Then the cost of the coilover. So not really sure that is viable because good Coilovers run $900-$1200 a pair. Fox 2.0s we’re my intial plan but my reading has shown that Fox has transferred their assembly to China for the 2.0s.
Eibach Pro 2.0s lift the front of the truck a minimum of 1.75” which I don’t really want to do on this truck. The heavy rake looks really good on it in my opinion and don’t want to loose that. Though many folks using the Arnott fronts are claiming at least 1.0 of lift for the front but I think that is because the OEMs were shot and sagging.

Ohh well. Hopefully it will be a little while before that is needed.

Anyone done a Magnaride delete and have any suggestions?

No personal experience, but when I was shopping for pre-owned Suburban’s a good friend of mine who has owned many of them and does a lot of work on them himself advised to be cautious of ~75K mile LTZ’s because of their rear shocks wearing out around then and expensive replacement.

I recall him telling me that he replaces the auto-leveling shocks with the Arnott brand and is happy with them.

I should have pulled the trigger ‘back then’ (early Fall 2020) on a 2016 LT with ~70K on the clock because the same ride now is at least $6K-$8K more.

My dad did Z71 springs on his 14 Denali. Fits the airbags better in the rear than the OE springs. The Z71 spring have a bigger I.D.
Not sure if his has the airride, don't think he had to bypass/trick anything.

Looks pretty good with the ~3/4" lift & rides the same.

Not sure if he did shocks too, now that I'm thinking about it.

Just hit 72k miles so he is about spot on.
Yes. We bought January of 2019 and we just hit 72k. Most LTZs of that vintage are running about $10k more currently that what I paid then.

2014 was a different system it was a full air ride system. No need to trick the computer like the newer Magnaride.

2015 only used air to level the rear. The Magnaride is quite a bit different.

Finally got a chance to install the rear shocks. Install was super easy thankfully. The most time consuming part was removing the fender liner.
Once that was out the top nut was visible. Popped that off undid the airline and the electrical connector at the top and undid the bottom nut.
Shock came right out.
Slid the top in installed the bolt and loosely installed the nut.
Had to slightly jack up the lower control arm to line up the bottom eyelet popped in the bolt jacked the control arm up a bit more to tighten the bolts with weight on them. Plugged in the airline and electrical connector put the wheel well liner back in and did the other side.
Out for a test drive started the truck up and the compressor kicked on for a bit and shut off as it should.
Ride is buttery smooth and much better than factory!! No suspension error lights on the dash!!

When the fronts go I guess I will just do the full Arnott coilover that runs about $450 each.
