Dang, going to be expensive winter to heat the castle. Our price per therm from Nicor has just about doubled so far. Last October was .63 per therm and on bill today 1.24. Last winter was up from the winter before but I don't have a bill to find that comparison. I imagine most are seeing about the same as far as increase percent. I told wife to make sure she makes it be know at work so others know about it before the election.

FJB!

It’s sucks. I just locked in my rate with ONG for the next 12 months.

With EVERYTHING going up it’s going to be brutal for a lot of people.

Last year, I was paying $2.50 per therm; expecting a 30%+ increase this season so about $3.25 per therm. I'm anticipating a monthly gas bill of about $450/mo (Nov through Feb or about $1800 total). FJB.

Damn you guys are getting hammered

I pay by CCF and our current default rate is is $0.85979/CCF which is easily double from a year or two ago

I’m locked into a rate that makes my effective price per CCF around $0.65

Seeing the natural gas price impact in my electric bill too. I'm near the end of an 18 month contract at 9.5 cents per kwh, and I'm kicking myself for not locking into a 36 month contract back then. The best I can do is 12.2 for a 3 month contract.

EDIT: just looked up the Henry Hub natural gas spot price (Dollars per Million Btu).

I'm on propane. Last year it cost me $875.00 to fill my 500 gallon tank. This year it was going to cost me $1400.00+. So I told the guy to just $900.00 in it.

I’m just glad I’m no longer on heating oil, that stuff is insane right now.

I really feel horrible for all these seniors who now will have to choose between eating or heating this winter as there’s a whole lot of them here in the Northeast who still use fuel oil.

It's because we are now exporting our gas to countries that will pay more. Pipelines have been constructed to move our gas to our coasts where there are now LNG facilities to liquify it for export.

And most of our electricity is now generated from natural gas, so electricity is going to become really expensive as well.

The wood burning insert will be up and running soon (holding off until the real cold starts) and won’t go cold until about some time in April, depending on when the cold slips away. I’m so glad to have it.

Wood boiler and free standing wood stove sales are up 25%.

    So retailers are happy.
    Woo Hoo!

But, a salesman told me that so is the price of felled, bucked and split firewood.
So the woodyarders are pretty close to rolling in clover as well.

It might be a wee bit tougher to find chain saws and splitters come December or so.

    ^^^^^^ Holy cow!

Also just read that USA has only about a 25 day supply of diesel fuel too. That is freaking scary.

Looking like things are going to continue getting worse instead if improve. Eek :
