..for $2,694.14 for an ounce of gold bar that is certified? ...You, higher mammal. Can you read? ....There's nothing sexier than a well worn, functional Sig!

Is there someone local you could go to? It may be better to start a relationship with someone local who can give you access to a quick market instead of having to deal with an out of town over the internet company for your business.

Check Costco. They sell certified 1oz bars. I’ve been there shopping on a day when there happened to be a sharp movement on price of gold and the posted price was upside down. And if you buy it with your Costco credit card ( paying it off in full on time of course) you get a few % cash back so even if you pay their small premium you can come out pretty good. I like SDbullion and APMEC myself and also shoot Dave Truong an email he sometimes deals in gold.

I ran into some issues trying to sell bars to local shops in the past. Some wouldn't touch them, and the others were paying well under spot. Due diligence is your friend. ____________ Pace

Are you just trying to buy some gold as close to spot as possible or do you have a specific investment goal with a timetable?

I was able to locate a local place before I left Maryland that was sub 2500 an ounce. For royal canadian mint which from what I read is a more well-regarded product. After advice from folks here on the forum I sought local and it definitely was better than any deal online. I’ve since bought a few pounds of silver online from various forums. Seems a better deal from “end users” with silver. Usually around 25/oz or a bit less in bulk. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I’m no expert at all, but if this is the case then the better question might be WHEN as opposed to WHERE. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Sovereign coins, no. Never had an issue with government minted coins from anywhere. US coins will get you more premium back, but all are accepted at spot or better. Only interest I have now. I'm pretty rural, though, so local shops are limited. Folks might do better in more populated areas where there is more competition among shops. ____________ Pace

Pace knows his stuff ^^^. He helped me considerably when I decided to invest in precious metals. It may not be the case at this present moment and near future, but for the last 1-2 years the precious metals in my safe have gone up in value while the cash in my safe has lost considerable value. Take those two differences and it’s a good area for an appropriate portion of your investments. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!
