She’s also the first Mexican born person to go to Congress.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Correct me if I am wrong that means Pelosi is down to a 8 seat majority? Seems like the Republicans should be demanding more respect in the house.

Flipping that district to R for first time in 150 years. I wonder how that get out the vote effort for Hispanic folks is working for the D’s ?

Maybe the bulk of Hispanic community isn’t as down with woke agenda as assumed…

Local word is that this may be the beginning of an earthquake in all of the old Dem machine strongholds along the border. The Dems have had a headlock on the border for well over 120 years, and that's becoming more and more of a surprise given the general Republican dominance of the state. Both the national and state GOP have finally started waking up to the possibilities there.

It remains to be seen, though, whether this actually has an effect elsewhere or is part of a larger trend. I'm hoping for the best, but in some ways the border has long been a geographically isolated little world of its own.

If this trend continues they will be building a big beautiful wall; enforcing immigration law; enforcing compliance with labor laws (green cards); and loading up greyhound busses.

D's are making inroads in some Texas cities, but flipping a Rio Grande Valley district is nice. Maybe Hispanics are realizing the Dems are not their friends.
