Help me find an air conditioner Fan Guard for a Carrier condensing unit
As you can see from the image below, I need to replace the grille top for our condenser unit. Went to take a look at it this afternoon and just a small amount of pressure resulted in the motor almost falling into the unit.
I've been hunting, but can not find a part number. Found grilles, but nothing that specifically matches my unit.
Carrier Model 24ABR336A0031010 13S Base R22 3T 208/230 Size 36 SEER 13
The above is the information I have. Any ideas where to look?

Visit any local carrier dealers, or even other brand, shops and see if you can find a used one that will work from their takeout units.
Endeavor to persevere.

So, now I have the part number thanks to a local dealer. It's called a Fan Guard and the part number is 329682401.
The price is outrageous, and seems to be starting at $437. The dealer was blown away by the price. He started looking online to see if he could find it less and had no luck.
I'm going to continue the hunt, but would appreciate it if the SIG Forum Braintrust would look around too.
My best bet might be to go to a shop and have a new piece welded on if possible.

Ask him if there is a comparable Bryant part number, it might cost less,
From what I see on google, that's one expensive guard...

Wow for that price you might think it includes a new motor.
Good luck to you.

It does not include a new motor, but I do happen to already have one.

You "might" get away with a welding shop, welding a new round disc of metal on it and drilling the holes for the fan to bolt to.

I'd just cut a piece of plate & drill the holes in it & bolt it up. It doesn't look like it needs to be anything precise, or even round for that matter. Isn't it just to hang the fan motor?

Thank you, but those numbers do not match my unit. Unit width and depth is 31 3/16" square Edge to front screw is 6" Edge to back screw is 25 1/2"
Screw corner to corner is 17 13/16" along the front and depth screw to screw is 19 1/2"

Maybe a different direction, but if the rest of the guard is good and the areas where the guard mounting screws are solid, maybe take it to a machine shop of some sort and have someone remove the top plate and weld a metal plate to the top of it. It is amazing how much parts are for these things.

For a temporary fix, can you use fender washers to hold?

Not really, the metal is crumbling like crazy. Polk my finger through crumbling. It's now a lot worse than the original photo and getting worse. When I just move the thing metal comes off.
My guess is the motor - which is pretty heavy - would have fallen off within the next couple of hours of use.
So the mounting screw area is totally shot.
Now the guard itself seems totally fine, it's the center circle area with the mounting holes. I've got a call into a metal fabricator in the area.

I had to have my Carrier condenser motor replaced this summer. The fan assembly came with it. The typical "rescue motor" replacements wouldn't fit my unit. Carrier motor and fan, installed, was $1105. I thought that was quite steep (take that same motor and fan, put a front and back grill on it and mount it on a stand and you could buy it at Home Depot as a shop fan for less than two hundred bucks), but asking $437 for the grill, well, that's highway robbery.

Could your numbers possibly be a little off (probably not knowing Carrier)?
Ok, next physical size up is 31 3/16 square.
Edge to front screw 6 9/16 Edge to back screw 24 11/16
Screw corner to corner 18 1/8
I'm not grasping your extra corner to corner measurement 25 1/2 - 6 = 19 1/2, where does the 17 13/16 come into play? Or are you stating the top grill isn't square like the cabinet?

I googled the PN and Carrier fan grill, this comes up, shows it's a circular fan grill part.
the numbers you want are not given however specs show

Correct, the cabinet is square and just at 31 3/16", but the holes are not square.
A little closer look at the measurements...
A (front edge of unit) to B is 6 inches. Maybe =/- 1/16" B to C is 19 9/16". Original estimate was 19 1/2" A to C is about 25 11/16" or so. Original estimate was 25 1/2" B to D is 17 13/16"
Thank you.
You'll notice there are four more holes in the top cover of the unit that are not used.

Yes, that is it and I spoke with Carrier Enterprise yesterday. That's the dealer in Hartford where I originally bought the unit from. He was the one shocked at the price, but they had one up in Albany for about $450.

I suspect those are drain holes. From the very first pic in the thread, I thought it was stupid to have those recessed since it would hold water and rust.

Gotcha, but I was referring to the four extra holes on the cover piece and not the middle of the fan guard.
