My Dog Buster has Lymphoma

Buster is a beautiful 10.5 yr old Pug. He has been a great dog and has gone to work with me every day for the last decade. Buster stays in my office and is our customer relations officer

We were told today that he only has about a month left to live. He had surgery last week and was recovering and eating quite well. This news took me by surprise because of how happy he is acting...Maybe I was in denial.

We love our little guy and could use some good vibes.

Oh man, I’m really sorry to hear this. We recently lost our two older Scotties to age-related issues and miss them terribly.

Pam and I now have a six-month-old Scottie to love, but it’s never the same—-Annie and Troon were really special and it was hard to let them go.

I know you’ll spoil Buster rotten and keep him happy for as long as you can. Best wishes.

I'm really sorry to hear about Buster's problems, please make his last days happy with all the things he like to do the most. Especially eating all he wants of his favorite foods.

Had a 6 year old yellow lab Remy who had lymphoma, spent 5-6k to try and save him. One day he rolled his eyes up so you only saw white and knew it was time. Sorry to hear about your pug. Just remember it's about him and his pain not yours....

I lost my dog a couple of years ago. He was only 6 1/2. We probably kept him alive a little too long.

I had to put down my 10 year old Boxer last month due to a tumor in his back. It was the hardest thing I have done in my 60 years on earth.God bless you.

Buster had a good day today.

He ate a can of dog food and that's a good thing.

He's laying on my recliner with me snoring right now

WOW!! I feel your pain, we had to put our pug down a few years back. He was 11 and got a spinal
disease and could not hardly walk. They are the best natures creatures and give sooooooo much love.

I can relate.

I took my Husky to the oncologist for blood work and a check up. The blood work was so we could begin to administer her low does oral chemo pills to keep the bad stuff away.

Well I was walking around the parking lot kicking stones just killing time. You know it is bad when one of the techs come out almost instantly and tell you that the Doc wants to talk.

OUt of chemo for two weeks and their is some type of mass on her lymph nodes.

What really sucks is that for the last few weeks she has been normal and acting like she did a couple of years ago.

We are waiting for the test results.

We are starting low dose Chemo/Steroid on Monday. They told us that it might best case give him 3-4 more months.

How did the chemo affect your dog ? I know you said acting normal but were there any side affects ?

He was acting happy because he is happy. Buster will get the most out of every minute of every day he has left, and won't give a second of thought to what the future holds. He doesn't know, so he's not worried about it. There's something beautiful about that, I think.

Update: Buster got his stitches out today and started his Chemo/Steroid treatment.

He's had a good couple of days and I hope the treatment makes him feel better. They told us today that the lymphoma is advancing and the treatment will not cure him.

This will be his last treatment. We were led to believe that the $1.5 k would cover several treatments. After I dropped him off they emailed us the contract that I signed on an iPad and in the fine print it said 1.5 k every two weeks. It's sad but we've already spent 15K trying to save him to no avail

We love our little guy but we have to stop throwing money at a lost cause.

Wish I had better news.

Don't look at it as an "economic choice." In reality, cancer is going to win and flushing money is only prolonging the inevitable. If you're going to spend money why not spending it on "comfort" items?

I hate losing pet family members, but the guilt of not spending enough isn't a thought lov d ones should even consider.

Buy Buster a hamburger everyday. Bet he'd be happier.
