GustoferDoes anyone still display firearms in their homes anymore?
I wouldn't say "display" exactly, but I have quite a few around the house in various places.
If I get burgled, well...that's why I have insurance.

Shotgun ZekeI built an Oak 8 gun cabinet with smoked glass doors in high school. It is in the corner with 6 shotguns, including my grandfather's both sides and (2) .22 cal rifles. Handguns and other rifles are not displayed.

parallelI have young children so that's not going to happen. After they move out? Well... I never really thought about it. I guess if I felt the need to I would, but I just don't see the sense in my house. I mean, it's not like it would add anything to the decor in my house like it would say a log cabin or something similar.

Same here.
I remember when we would visit my grandparents in Tennessee when you came in the front door their was a stack (at least 5) if not more of long guns up against the wall in a corner near entrance. Good memories of a better time.

valkyrie1Didn't even think about it but in my PC room I have a picture of John Wayne, one hand on his pistol and in the other hand a Winchester lever action. Above it I hung my Grandfathers 50 year oldish French built 16g SxS. Kind of looks like a coach gun. The thing still works. everything else is locked up. Always wanted a lever gun to display but I guess it will go in the safe also.

GRIZZLYBEARI do have a firearm or two displayed; but anything I displaying is non functioning and would need a gunsmith and parts to fire.
One display is old Damascus steel shotguns, another is a old Trapdrop Springfield, and the last is of old flintlock pistols with most of the firing mech missing

GeorgeairI've got 6 or so long guns in a gun cabinet my father and I built. Old school, cherry wood with glass front, simple barrel locks. It's out of site from windows, but will probably be a victim of our next move/downsizing.
Anybody who remembers Emperor Clock Company, they did these kits in addition to grandfather clocks.
