Michelin CrossClimate or Nokian WR G4?
I'll need to replace my OEM tires on my Outback this fall. Looking to the hive for those who have at least 1 year of experience with either the CrossClimate or WR G4s. Both are 3Peak/Snowflake rated which will take care of any seasonal issues here in STL or any trips back to Ohio for holidays. Thanks, in advance.

sorry, no experience with either of those.

I went through the all-season / snowflake rated search last fall, and got the Vredestein Quatrac Pro tires from Tire Rack. For a Hyundai Genesis AWD sedan

Worked great in the couple of snows I took them out in last winter. And have been great in rain / highway miles...

I run Nokian WRG3's and love em. Z-line A/S would've been perfect for me but the don't come in my size.

I know a guy who runs the WRG3's and 4's as a hydro engineer in the NE every winter. Swears by 'em. But the best snow tire I've ever heard of is the Nokian Hakkapeliitta line. They are legendary for snow.

try to determine the country of origin. Buy which ever one is not made in China or owned by the chinese. If both are buy something else.

If those are your two choices go with the Nokian. I only buy Michelin’s that are made in the states and that model is either made in Spain or the Canary Islands.

Take a look at the Cooper Discoverer Enduromax they are also 3 peak snow rated and made in the States.

I have been looking at the WR G4 for wife's Flex. Currently have Nokian Rotiva's on my GL450 and they have been very good for the last 2 years.
Following to learn more about the G4, mainly, I want to know it is quiet.

I made a run on blizzard slick roads from St. Louis to Denver to Cheyenne to Montpelier to Pocatello on Nokian snow tires in Feb 2009. On 4x4 Ram 2500 all the way, absolutely amazing traction. Can't recall the model name, it was their premium at the time. Many 8000+ passes & a lot of pucker on this part of my coast to coast voyage. Never a slip or oopsie in whatever slick places. There was a couple downgrades 15mph seemed too fast.
If I lived in snow country I'd find another set. These were non studded.

I put WR G4 SUV's on the BMW X3 as a test to see if I can avoid putting Nokian Hakkapelita's on in the winter - so far (one year) they are great and I'd put them on again.

Another vote for Nokian. I've been running the AT tires on my last three vehicles. I put a set of WRG3's on my mom's RAV4 two years ago, and already plan on putting the G4's on when they need to be replaced. Of course, Nokian might have the G5 available by then.
