For those that don't know how much a trillion dollars is, a trillion is 1,000,000,000,000, also known as 10 to the 12th power, or one million million. It's such a large number it's hard to get your head around it, so sometimes trillion just means “wow, a lot.” Now multiply that by 50. Eek

Senator Kennedy nailed it.

In a wilderness 1st aid course, taught outside on a mountain side, the instructor said that one of the most important things a responder could remember to do was:

"Don't just do something, stand there."

If you go down the slope how are you going to get back?
If you jump in the lake can you handle two panicked, wet kayakers?
If you want to pull a 3x6 splinter out of a thigh, what do you think will happen? Do you know or are you guessing?

How come National Park Rangers know so much more about decision making then smarmy, so-called-elite, hosers do?
Why would these ass-clowns show up to a senate ass-fry without bringing their cheat sheet?

In my working life I hired a good number of professionals. If any, and some did, show up either so monstrously unprepared or so superciliously smug as to try to dodge easily foreseen questions I'd terminate the interview forthwith.

And they consider themselves masters of the universe. A guy with experience throwing fish at the Pike Place Market could make a better showing with his apron on.

The whole "green" movement is nothing more than a bunch of snake oil being sold so politicians and corporations can get rich off the American public, of which ~50% actually believes in this crap.

If they want to reduce the world's carbon footprint caused by humans the solution is to remove humans from the planet. All the recycling/green bullshit isn't going to do squat when the world's population grew by 400% over the last 100 years.

Another way of quantizing $50T over the next 27 years is to note that's about equal to what the IRS will receive in income taxes over that period (White House projection for 2023 total income tax receipts at about $2.3T.)

There are two ways to get that kind of money - print it, or tax it. So, yeah, double the income tax would do it. Or embrace inflation that would make Jimmy Carter blush.

As Senator Kennedy points out, they have no idea what would actually be accomplished with that money/effort. Of course, one certain result would be China and India's economies benefitting from cheap energy, while ours are hogtied.

China, India and count in Russia among others won't spend a dime on cleaning up their contribution to carbon pollution. Any one that believes that is an idiot (think Dems) Our current carbon food print is really pretty low, and would be lower if Kerry and his ilk would stop jetting around in their private jets.
