I Won the Denali Road Lottery! Update new camera toy
Are you able to stay in Kantishna?

Stayed at the Kantishna Roadhouse 20-years ago with my parents on our last great family vacation trip. Really enjoyed the drive in/out and the surrounding area, sparked my imagination of Alaska, ended up dating a few girls up there and did a bunch of climbing, to include Denali.

I had an offer from a cruise ship line to drive a van through Denali in the summer. It was supposed to start May 15 to September 15. They called back and asked if I could start April 1 and work until October 1. I couldn't do it those dates. Next year I could.

We drew two days back in 2004. We haven't put in for it since. It's certainly a great experience to do once. Especially if you are new to Alaska, or have mobility challenges which would preclude you from getting out in other places for similar photos. Have fun, enjoy your trip. We encourage new residents to put in for it, no one has been disappointed yet.

It is the only road that goes into Denali National Park. Typically only accessed by Park tour busses and some private concessionaires. So yes, to be able to drive myself, stop whenever I want, wherever I want and take as many pictures as I want without having to worry about having to get back onto a bus with 60 of my closest friends is a dream come true.

Unfortunately, not on this trip. Road lottery permit is only good for one day. I can enter at 0800 Sunday morning and have to exit the park by midnight.
