Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Package originates in Florida, makes it to Detroit to set there for 3 or 4 days and is now on it's way to Denver Co. I live in Metamora, roughly 50 miles north of Detroit.
It is a prescription medication, good thing I still a supply of it.

I know they have their rules, but I had a hell of a time paying my PO Box fee. They refused to take it early even though the rate was established. And I was going out of town. Finally they let me pay it on Aug 1 (it was "due" Aug 31).

It has been a while since I used a PO box, but I remember mailing a check to the post office. I usually sent it three or four weeks before it was due.

Just curious, how much was the late fee?

I get the notice that my box fee is coming due a couple months before the due date and it states I can be "locked in" to the past period rate if I pay early (several weeks before the due date).

If I pay after the period, within the two weeks it is due, I will pay the "new" rate, and if late, a late fee as well.

So , I pay it early.

Never had an issue.

I did not have such an option in Florida (had that PO Box for 33 years) and no issue paying it early, as I did when I was going over seas, just paid the bill well before it was due to cover the time I was deployed. They took the money for the entire period just like I was buying stamps.

Current box is in Arkansas, so it might be specific to location.

I wish the PO in Buzzards Bay, MA was like yours! They told me they couldn't even see my due bill on the computer early. No wonder they are in so much trouble. They would't take my money early. On Aug 1, the due bill was in my box so then I could pay it. Silly!

There was no late fee. I paid it on time.

Only problem I ever had was during Covid, they couldn't seem to get my diabetic supplies to me. I was 3 boxes of 200 test strips behind, and they all came at once. Of course, the next month my dr put me on a Dexcom.

I don’t have a PO Box, but USPS deliveries are pretty good for me. Even on Sunday.

For the most part I have been very lucky with the USPS until recently. One package left Texas heading to California but took a side trip to New York, total travel time 25 days. No tracking update once it left Texas. Once the package arrived at my place all the tracking info populated.
Same with another package, but it was only MIA for a week.......

I'm in Illinois near St Louis. I sold a couple of cameras to a gentleman in Georgia. I had no idea that Washington State was between Illinois and Georgia. I should have paid more attention in Geography class in Jr. High.

We moved almost a year ago. We have informed delivery so we see stuff that has been processed and SHOULD be arriving.
In the last two weeks we have had 3 important mailings that have cleared "Informed Delivery" but have never arrived.
We have been in to the PO at least eight times (no exaggeration at all) and filled out the paperwork at their direction each time.

When I move, I don't tell the USPS until I have changed my address with every company I get a bill from as well as friends and family. THEN I submit a change of address form. It hasn't stopped the stupidity completely but it does help a lot...

Speaking of unInformed delivery, they used to send it by Email in the AM, now it's in the PM, after the mail has been delivered, and for the PO box any BRM isn't scanned, so you could have lots of BRM and never know...
