Sent ya an email, my brother lives fairly close to you and I'm going to try to make a run over there tomorrow.
I know you said you're good on everything but let me know if you're going to be running low on something.
I think you quoted me by accident? I'm more than 1,000 miles away from there. But you are welcome to come by.

Pipe SmokerA lot of ordinary American folks have performed heroic deeds during this disaster. So proud of them.

ensigmaticI think we're getting some blow-by from Harvey all the up here in SE MI. now. Pouring like crazy and it looks like it's just going to keep on coming in a curve spinning up from the SSE.

P250UA5Stopping for a bite, about halfway to Austin on 290.
Hwy 99 had 3 spots between my house & 290 with water across the road, passable but I imagine it'll get deeper.
Saw no less than 50-60 TX troopers headed south on 290 toward Houston, most we're in convoys of 5-15 vehicles.
Also tons of trucks pulling boats headed into Houston.

Email went to mrvmax who does in fact live close to my brother.

reloader-1Anyone in the Houston Heights/greater Heights area?
My brother has a house there but he's trapped elsewhere in the city, was wondering if it's flooded or not. Specifically, Oakridge St. off Studewood St.
He listed his house for sale a few days ago, and doesn't have flood insurance to my knowledge.

RipleyNot to diminish SE Texas flooding, I lived in Houston and still am in touch with folks there, daily lately. A nice picture from the troubles (Booth, Texas) --

That's a good man there. He lost everything but he and his son are alive, and he has what he needs. Good for him, and God bless them both.

SigmanicFor those on the scene, how are the distribution outlets and pipelines for food and other necessities holding up? For a city the size of Houston this has to be a growing concern under these circumstances.

car541Water is deep in some spots, but at least it is pretty warm. Once the boots overtop and the pants get soaked you can just embrace the suck and go for quite a while.
The water in the flooded areas is still standing in a lot of places and is much clearer and had less debris than in past events.
My BDU uniforms are getting thrown out and replaced next week.
I will say this, the Streamlight ProTac USB is the best thing since sliced bread. recharges in the truck

12131The storm's center has been sitting on top of Houston all day, not going anywhere, and pouring more rain. This is reminiscent of Allison in 2001. Been here since '75, been through all them storms/hurricanes. Never seen anything like this. "Pain-in-the-ass storm" is putting it mildly.

I've been wondering if the Katrina refuges would be headed back to New Orleans now. I know the ones that came to Baton Rouge stayed and our crime rate shows.
They better watch shooting at the Cajun Navy. Those Coonass boys will shoot back.
