So I got to chuckling at a thought I had the other day.

We have gone through several Gun/ammo shortages/law changes over the years since the 80s. Combine that with the fact that lots of folks fear at least a short term large scale societal breakdown (antifa, militant blm, ms13, rogue clowns whatever). Because of all these things prudent folks who live in an age of fairly large amounts of disposable income have stocked up.

I like to think that all these shenanigans will give way to better / more stable times (DON’T HARSH MY PROVERBIAL BUZZ).

At any rate I have this picture of some grandkid thinking “HOLY SHIT WHY DID GRANDPA HAVE A BAZILLION ROUNDS OF AMMO AND ELEVENTY HUNDRED GUNS.....WTF AM I GONNA DO WITH ALL THIS CRAP”. That mak s me chuckle for some reason. Smile.

One would hope that your grandkids would understand that the 2nd is a god given right, and no amount of .gov will every diminish it.

Worse yet is thinking of the implications of trusts with NFA items for those who have not been properly prepared...

I'm hoping the wife keeps them long enough for my boys to take what they want.

Really no sense in burying them with me. That would just get dirt in the actions.

I don't have grandkids (never married)--my only heirs are 2 nephews, and they are neither one interested in my guns. At my age (80) I am starting to consider my options regarding my possessions and what to do about them prior to my death.

I have wondered the same thing (but I am not yet approaching your age...)

Have you considered a gun club get-together where you sell items from your collection at acceptable prices - low enough to move the items fairly but not so low as to 'give it away'. I bet there would be a lot of interest.

When I think about the future I envision my grandchildren being able to protect their marijuana plants with machine guns legally. That’s the future I want.

Mom had an entire 2 1/2 story farm house full of antiques that she says gave her pleasure.

Prior to her passing we asked her to get it all sold off , so we wouldn't have to deal with getting rid of it.

She said that it was up to us , Roll Eyes

great , since all of us had what we wanted in our homes , no one needed any thing.

For 18 months my brother told my two sisters to come and get what ever they wanted , get it gone we need to get the house sold.

Of course they did not budge an inch ,
I told my brother that I was moving back and to tell the girls that I have a big trailer to fill up , get the stuff while the getting is good.

Nary a muscle was moved to come get anything,
24 months went by and I had two fellas help me move what I wanted , I picked 8 antique furniture pieces , and 8 minor pieces.

You should have seen the shit hit the fan , Eek Christ you would have thought I was taking their internal organs !

One sister did not speak to me for 15 months, the other one did not peak to me for 2 1/2 years.

One sibling brought a giant straight truck and took everything in the house , but none of us other three knows where it all went.

I have worked on our grandkids that we have the most contact with to like and to use guns properly.
One grandson was in a shooting club in college.

My youngest ones have been started on BB guns and have been out with us while we have been shooting.
We always try to teach them gun safety as well.

So, I think that will help them understand unless I shoot it all up before I go to the big range in the sky.
