Looking for a high quality pair of sandals that are made in the US. Rainbow has their premium US made line. Any others to look at? https://www.rainbowsandals.com/signature-series ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. This brand is made in Georgia. I have a pair I bought several years ago and they seem to be well made. https://www.okabashi.com/collections/all ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Witticism pending... |
I'm a huge fan of Rainbow (wearing a pair right now). Island Slipper are made in Hawaii. Well made and nice looking but for sheer comfort they don't touch Rainbow in my opinion. I'm on my 3rd or 4th pair of Rainbow brand but I won't be getting another pair from Island. Dan I'm not as illiterate as my typos would suggest.☮

I have exclusively worn Adidas Adilette sandals for the last 30 years. Until recently they were hands down the best pair of footwear available. Super comfortable with just the right amount of arch support and cushioning without being too soft or too hard. Came in a bazillion color options, made in Italy and could easily be found for $25 bucks. Now they’re like $40 but can still be had for a bit cheaper on sale. I have likely had 50 pair in the last 30 years and probably have about 5 or 6 currently. However in the last couple year Adidas has gone CHEAP!!! They removed the felt/soft layer on the underside of the strap and they are no longer comfortable. The strap material is also thinner and acts a bit like a blade and cuts into my toes on the front and with the soft felt material gone the strap runs me some gnarly callouses on the two widest part of my feet. I tried going up a size to see if that would help and they are just too big and slide off my foot. So those are dead to me!! I remembered about 25 years ago some friends had a dude come stay with them for the summer that was from California and he had a pair of Rainbows that I do believe were permanently attached to his feet that he swore by. Back then Rainbow still was pretty small and they were nothing one could come by Cincinnati and internet sales weren’t really a thing and I had forgotten all about them. Went to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago and needs some new sandals and started looking at some of the shops and ran across Rainbow and remembered my buddy from years ago. But all I could find were Chinese made ones. So I bought a cheap knock off set for cheap just to kick around at the beach. I am beginning to wonder if they sell the American made ones in stores? I check all the stores that sell them locally and no one has them. I tried the Chinese ones at the store on and the XXL was a nice fit so I am hoping the American made ones sizing are the same. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. My kids swear by them. Say that when you first get them step into shower and wear them till they dry. I will say they form to your foot pretty well. I have a pair and I like them. I am not a flip flop guy though so I would say they are expensive for flip flops, but my kids would say I'm nuts and you should buy them.

Sigh... I simply can't wear flip flops. they don't stay on my feet. Other sandal styles are a crap shoot for me because of my wide (4E) feet. Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

Southern Polished look pretty nice too. However I like the subtle Red White and Blue flare on the Rainbow’s midsole. Also as pedropcola noted we are talking pretty hefty money for flip flops and the $72 price tag of the Rainbows compared to $105 of the Southern Polished is a big difference. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. When you just say it like that yeah it’s a tough pill to swallow. But I spend between $350-$400 on boots for work that last about 3 years. They are comfy but my feet like their freedom afterward and I wear sandals a ton to give my feet freedom from being in a boot all day. Folks claim they get 5 years easy and some folks up to 10 out of these Rainbows. I’d get 3-4 years out of my Adidas but I rotated through 3-5 pairs that I wore because of having different colors. I bought a cheap $30 knock off pair and they are decent for a short time wearing them but they aren’t going to last and aren’t comfy on my feet for a long time as they are too squishy. So taking everything into account $75 really is not that much. Especially since they are hand made in the United States. I’d go to guess you’d drop $100+ on a nice leather holster for your gun because you want it to be comfy as much as you wear it. I know I have multiple that are over $100 and another on the way that I don’t even have the gun for yet (Thanks RGrizzle for doing the 365 Macro with an optic). So $75 for leather holsters for my feet doesn’t sound too bad. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I’ve had a pair of Combat flip flops for a couple years now and love them. I have the Floperator version, I like them a lot better than my old Reef sandals. For one they handle water way better, don’t get all slick on the insole. They run $50, unfortunately they aren’t US made. Made down in Colombia. I’ve been getting ads for Gumbies, I couldn’t find where they’re made but it looks to be either Australia or somewhere near there. Hell, is other people! J-P S

I started wearing Rainbows about 40 years ago when they were all made in the U.S. (San Clemente, CA). That’s back when even their lower tier rubberized flops, selling for about $40, were great and would last for years. I’m not sure that any of them are made in the U.S. these days but you have to pay up for their leather series in order to get the quality that you would have gotten years ago. I still think they’re worth the money but I don’t buy them as often.

I've had my Combat flip-flops for about 3 years. Mostly wear around the house. I'll only wear shoes I can run in otherwise (Keens etc.) I'll take Made in Colombia over Chyna everyday. Keep it in our hemisphere at least. The 7.62x39 case head is kinda cool. https://www.combatflipflops.co...ions/mens-flip-flops

Leather ones aren’t bad looking but for $2 more I’ll stick with the American made. Just walked in the door from checking the last place that sells them locally and no dice. So guess I’ll just order a pair. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. I've been living in the same pair of Ola Kai for 4 or 5 years every summer. They're finally starting to wear out. Not cheap at $65 but they've got excellent support and the stay on my foot. For the cost to life ratio, I'm happy.
