Another member saying hello from hospital room
Last month, I posted about a bad news from my doc regarding Thyroid Cancer. Doc decided to do Total Thyroidectomy. I never had any surgery done before so I was very anxy/nervous. I had to be given some meds for that during pre-op. And there I went. Last thing I remember was when they put on the O2 mask. Woke up at PACU. Given morphine multiple times. I was then transferred up to med-surge floor for 24hr observation. Swallowing anything other than liquid is difficult. On clear diet for now. On and off sleep, max 1 hr. I kept looking at the clock each time I woke up. Wife with me at bedside all this time. Mom, sis, daughter and son visited last night. Sis surprised me and flew in from Los Angeles. Daughter did the same and flew in from San Francisco. I felt very safe having 3 RNs bedside (wife, daughter and sis), LOL. Oncology appointment Nov 1 for radiation theraphy.

Last Sunday, we want to mass and had a word with parish priest. I was given the Annointment of the Sick sacrament. I was in piece and trusted everything in God’s hands.

Thank you my forum friends for prayers and morale support.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

I just went to the American Society website, and one of the things they say is: "Complications are less likely to happen when your operation is done by an experienced thyroid surgeon."

Really? Roll Eyes
