The girlfriend got this device you mount your camera phone in and it allows you to smoothly pan and follow stuff. It's a smaller version of the expensive one she has for her bigger cameras. It makes me look like I know what I'm doing when I film stuff. She uses it with an iPhone 6, for $120 not a bad purchase, I imagine it would be awesome for your kids soccer or football games.

Link to product - Zhiyun Smooth-Q 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer.

Not a bad day shooting for me either, finished 2nd overall and first limited in this little club match. This was our favorite stage of the match.

What? No one liked my camera work or shooting? I think the camera phone holder thing is ingenious. First time I ever posted something with zero responses.

Very cool. I've thought about them but really don't have a huge need.

Now the system you mount on a tripod and carry a transponder type thing is something I like but they are a little spendy. They pan and follow you using the transponder you wear. Setup a tripod with a camera and the system and it will track you. Watched a few people use them surfing in the OBX.

I'm sure you have talked about it before but where are you shooting in the area. I'm in Maryland wouldn't mind some good shooting weekends if I can find the time.

This match is a little one at my gun club Northern Virginia Gun Club, usually only 15-20 people. Very fun, very friendly, very laid back. The name is a bit of a misnomer, it's actually in Fredericksburg/King George. I also like to do ones at MCB Quantico, those have a little stiffer competition and a bigger field. The NVGC one is USPSA style, but usually pretty low round count. Quantico has larger stages and multiple disciplines - USPSA, Falling Steel, Steel challenge, and a two or three gun one though I have never shot that one.

I've got the full-sized Zhiyun Crane for my mirrorless camera and a Gen 1 Zhiyun Smooth-C. They're cool little gadgets.

You gotta put it in tilt-follow mode and then use Directional Pad to level out your shot. The directional pad in follow mode or pan lock mode just changes the pan and tilt, not the roll.

You can also find a mounting plate that lets you mount a Gopro on there as well.

You're speaking Greek to me. I was just playing with her new toy. Thought it was cool. I'm sure she understands what you just said. Her one for the real camera is even smoother, but I think she said it was $700 or $800. Eek And she has two! Yet complains when I buy one or two guns a year.

I'm guessing she has the GoPro mount too, she's got a million different camera mounts, tripods, and other paraphernalia. I don't know what most is, I just act as her camel and carry it for her and read SIGforum while she snaps pics.
