RogueJSKThose type of power cords are used on larger home electronics. Often seen on desktop computers, computer monitors, TVs, pressure cookers, stand mixers, etc.

Missed that on the male end. That's definitely odd.

It's trash unless you have 20+ then it's worth the drive to the scrapyard if it's close by.
It's a server plug anyone that has a use for it already has tons extra.

egregoreNeedlessly long for one, but the female end looks just like that of my coffee percolator.

Scooter123That plug will fit a standard 20 Amp or greater US electrical outlet. Note I prefer these outlets in the kitchen because they can easily support a Higher wattage microwave or toaster oven. In addition they hold either style plug VERY firmly, which means that arcing wont happen even after 20 years of use.
BTW, I expect that like most consumers those reading this haven't ever checked the current draw for their kitchen appliances. Which means that in many cases they are plugging in appliances with 15-20 amps of peak current draw into 15 amp outlets. I will also note that many of the high power vacuum cleaners also have rather high current draws, enough so the power cord gets warm on mine.
I've stopped counting.

Sig ViciousAs stated above, that plug is a NEMA 6-15p which is made to fit 240 VAC 15 amp receptacles. You may be thinking of a NEMA 5-20 which is a configuration for a 125 vac 20 amp receptacle featuring two straight blades with one of them being perpendicular to the other. The receptacles for these feature one side that is shaped like a sideways 'T' and will allow either a vertical or horizontal blade to be inserted in order to accommodate an appliance or equipment that the manufacturer rated at 20 amps and must be supplied by a 20 amp circuit.
A NEMA 5-20p and a NEMA 6-20p may look the same (one blade vertical and one blade horizontal) but have the blades reversed so that you cannot insert one into the other.

P250UA5Thanks for the chart. I have a mystery outlet on my back porch that's a big yellow barrel type end. Will reference this to see what the connector is & maybe what it's used for.

Sig ViciousThat chart is the Readers Digest version. If you are unable to find your particular 'non-twist lock' plug or receptacle look here -

mrwIf you ever go to Taiwan you have the correct computer power cord. I was there last year and that is what was in my hotel room.

wrightdI'm glad we cleared that up.
I'm sincerely glad there are those on the great Sigforum that know that stuff. Electrical is one of the great mysteries of life for me.
