You don't have to give Twitter your phone number. You can create a "throw away" e-mail account in yahoo (or similar) and sign up with that.

Para, no need to convince me, I've tried and I'm not willing to give my number to them. I'm weird I don't like giving away my email address, and I've had the same cell number since 1997, I don't need any additional texts, calls, or emails.

erj, I've tried twice, both times it asked me to text a verification code to protect against fraud or something. I do now have a Google voice number, so if I decide I just have to see something on the site I guess I could use that, or hope the third time is a charm and it accepts just email verification.
