I have a duel fuel generator. Wonder if running propane for a bit before storage would be helpful.
And use gas when actually using it for longer periods of time.

trapper189Propane bypasses how gasoline gets into the throat of the carb. Any gas in the float bowl before you turn the knob to propane stays in the float bowl until it evaporates, you drain it, or you run it dry.

redstoneThanks Guys, Dang I love this forum.
I have always used ethanol free in my equipment. and I run the carbs dry. The open frame is running fine and I ran the carb dry and it does have a metal tank. so it should be good to go. (it also started on the 4th pull as well out of storage, now it starts on the first pull).
The little portable one is surging. It runs ok under load, but I think I might go ahead and run it out and pull the carb and give it a good clean.
Is it ok to store the two 5 gallon cans I have of ethanol free or should I run those into the mini van this summer?

Put them in the van, mower, whatever other you have that runs gasoline, you can always get to the gas station and get fresh fuel, the place you want to keep the fuel treated is in the generator.
I have a 120 gallon LP tank, maybe time to convert my generator to dual fuel or get a new larger model...

ZSMICHAELThe day after they are "stored" and no longer easily brought back into service, some random drunk driver will knock down the power pole that feeds your house. This could be well after winter weather is long gone.
Yep cut the power to my office for several hours. This is a small enough town to know who did it. He was on his way to rehab again after a brief stay in County.
