Free for folks that have the paid version of Apple Music. I saw the offer this morning and downloaded the app. Haven’t opened it yet though. But be on the lookout if you like classical music. Serious about crackers

Then. It's. Not. Free. Not a shot at you, just at our apparent new reality of lie speak all these companies engage in. "free with subscription" (that you have to pay for) Words mean things.

I have been using Adagio since Primephonic was bought out by Apple and disappeared. It's very good; but Apple's money may give Apple Classical quite an edge. I went looking for a new recording of Mozart's Requiem. Adagio has 164 recordings. Apple Classical lists 805. I tried listening to an older recording with some of my favorite voices; but the recording can't hold a candle to more recent recordings. It's a bit like watching a 1980's pre-HD movie. Apple Classical has "recommended" recordings based on actual human "curating" of the collection. They recommended a recording I would not have tried, but am very satisfied after listening to it. WSJ had a couple of articles on the new app in the last couple of days. Here's a link to one. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

The app is only for the iPhone currently. I will be waiting for the macOS release, since I never listen to music on the phone. I subscribe to Apple Music, and have for years. I listen to music on my MBP (the new ones have very good speakers) or Homepod. When in doubt, mumble

I downloaded it a couple of days ago. For someone like me who doesn't really listen to much classical music, it's great since it has a lot of "Essential" playlists built for different composers, periods, instruments, etc. I mainly listen to music in the car. The Classical app for iphone is not integrated into Carplay as a standalone app yet, but if you add any music or playlist in Classical to your Apple Music library, it shows up in Carplay within the regular Apple Music app. 十人十色

Thanks for that last post. I was looking for an app for Apple CarPlay. Now I know just to add favorites to an Apple Music playlist. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

^^^^^^^^ I guess I’ve been living under a rock. I’d never heard of CarPlay before. Looking on the web I found this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205634 But I still don’t get it. Currently, before getting into my car I select a music source: Apple Music, Amazon Music, KUSC-FM, etc. on my iPhone. Then, after entering my car, my iPhone automatically connects to it via Bluetooth, and the music from that source is heard over my car’s sound system. How would CarPlay be better than my current method? Serious about crackers

There are other apps on the phone you can use via CarPlay as well, other than music. I’ve found that I’m mostly doing what you’re doing even though our cars have CarPlay, as the vehicle’s system is Bluetooth, but the CarPlay (in these vehicles) requires the cord. It’s a lot of work to plug in the cord!

The latest cars have wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Probably the biggest advantage to using Car Play is that you can access better navigation apps than the OEM navigation: Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze are all available on Car Play. If you listen to podcasts, that app is on Car Play. If you use Messages, Siri will read you new messages while you're driving. You can phone someone by asking Siri to call XXXX. You can navigate to someone's home by asking Siri "directions to XXXX home". As for music, the iDagio app is available; as is Apple Music. If you have playlists, you can scroll through them to get what you want. You can ask Siri to play something on Apple Music; but if you ask for a classical piece you will probably only get one movement. I haven't tried putting classical playlists from Apple Classical onto Apple Music yet, apparently per post above that's how you connect the two apps. I have a cheap $50 Chinese adapter device that lets me use Car Play wirelessly. Much more convenient, because I don't have to take the iPhone out of my pocket and plug it in. I used to leave the iPhone in the car inadvertently because it was plugged in. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"
