Park Falls! The owner of the Citation I flew for many years has a lodge outside of there. Quaint little place and home of St Criox fishing rods. Great place to visit and be FROM.

I can relate.

After 2 days of very wet snow, and five trips outside to clear the drive way.

I had to not only layer up but throw the cloths in the dryer , to get them wearable for the next go round.

At 66 y.o. I can manage the cold or even the cold and the wind.

I can manage the gloomy overcast dismal partial sun.

I can even tolerate six days of road closures.

It's the Ice and gravity combination that are my nemesis .

I just ordered some boot cleat strapper on'ers.

I've got the next two days off, and I plan to spend as much of it as possible right here Smile.

In a one stop light town in the middle of nowhere it was once common for patrol officers to check that every door at the business's in town were locked by giving them a Rattle.

I've stopped counting.

I’ve been in -40 in upper Ontario and thoughts freeze and urine turns to kidney ice stones as soon as you step outside. While there, showing off for my then GF, I accepted a challenge to race snow mobiles at night. I made two passes before dismounting and trying to look cool while walking my frozen ass to an indoor heated setting. One of the more stupid things I’ve done in life. If it’s -40 already, speeding along upon a snowmobile at night sure doesn’t make it warmer. My parents moved to Detroit from GA for work and my first 7 years were spent in that shithole. I left nothing of value up in the cold reaches of our continent. More power and warm regards to you in Wisconsin.

I was at a crime scene last night in the suburbs.

-41? Ok, you win! I'd be tapping the hell out around -25.

The real joy is when you're out shoveling snow and have your insulated Carhartt bibs on and you have to pee, the struggle of doing the dance to undo suspenders and zippers to get the dongle clear to dangle is real.

Believe me. I tapped out when I got out of roll call at hit the seat of my Tahoe. Thankfully it was a slow night. Air temp was -19. W/the windchill it was -41. It hurt. I was on the perimeter of a stabbing once that was around -10 to -15f. That freakin’ hurt. I ended up standing in an unheated doorway of an apartment building just to stay out of the wind. Kept opening the door yelling at people to not go under the tape.

The blood was bright cherry red and looked like it almost froze before hitting the concrete. It balled up on the concrete and didn’t even go into the pores of the concrete. I compared it to spilling the melted wax of my wife’s Scentcy Pot on the floor. Never seen that before.
