Looking for experience or perhaps an attorney that has dealt with it. Someone got my wife’s ssn back in 2024 and got a loan with it. She’s been fighting collections for a year now and has submitted a Loan Discharge Application. Correspondence back is asking for a court ruling confirming she was the victim of fraud. We have not filed a police report or been through an hearing but now we have 30 days to respond. What a joke. Anyone with experience/help? There ain't much difference in the man I want to be and the man that I really am.

File the police report tomorrow. Freeze your wives credit with all 4 major credit reporting agencies. (takes 5 minutes). Check her (and your) credit reports to ensure this is the only instance. There are attorneys out there that specialize in this - see what type of $ this involves given the circumstances of your case. Might be worth it if your are unable to secure a court ruling or need assistance in drafting and submitting your response.
