Loaded RoundTool set for Daughter moving to new appartment
Looking for suggestions for a tool set for my 21 year old Daughter.
In May she'll be moving to her first "real" home. Until now she has lived in various on campus housing.
I think she needs some small assortment of tools to go with the new apartment. They have onsite maintenance, so she doesn't need anything extensive. Under $100.

Sig209something like this:
https://www.northerntool.com/s..._200649558_200649558I would add a few items like channel lock pliers
IME something like this is highly useful too:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mid...FVM_YGs_wiOfv3ZuD7lUsome high quality duct tape also
I have gotten a lot of light household / workplace use out of this drill also
https://www.walmart.com/ip/BLA...dless-Drill/47729344don't need to break the bank to get her a useful set of tools - she isn't a construction worker
as guys we tend to over-buy gear but frankly it's not necessary 99% of the time

ChanceMy Dad always said don't buy tools till you need them.
That being said, I did the same thing for my daughter. Bought the pieces individually.
Hammer
Vice grips
Slip lock and regular pliers
Multihead Screwdriver
Impact Wrench
Hex Key Set
Tool Box

OKCGeneAlong that line, and no joke, a toilet plunger.
When you need one, and you will, you need one NOW and shouldn’t have to run to the store to buy one.
Hardly a “nice” gift, but a most useful one that will be needed.

arfmelButter knife(screwdriver/chisel/putty knife) and an old high heeled shoe (hammer). Elmer's glue. Cheap set of slip joint pliers if she is technically inclined.
Thats what my girl friends always had on hand.

YellowJacketI use the crap out of this little stubby socket/ratchet set. Throw in a couple of hex adapters to use the sockets with a cordless drill and you've got a nice nut driver, as well.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hu...e-H46PCSTS/300117122A hammer, of course. Some drywall anchors so she can hang pictures. Maybe a stud finder if she's gonna hang heavier stuff. A decent level, at least 24" long. A mini screwdriver set. LiOn cordless drill. Flashlight. Needlenose pliers.
I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log. April 05, 2018, 10:23 AM
blueyeI went over to Harbor Freight with the online coupons and set my niece up with the basics.

chellim1It doesn't have to be new.
You can find great deals on tools on Craigslist or at garage sales.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

With the right tools, she could probably rig some sort of gimbal mount.

CD228A pair of adjustable wrenches, Slip joint and needle nose plier, a pair of cutters, set of screw drivers and Allen keys (US/Meteric), a decent hammer, box cutter, electric and duct tape, a good flashlight and a fire extinguisher would work. A good wrench and ratchet set would be a bonus.

mark60Don't buy junk tools because when she calls you to fix something you'll be using junk tools.

reflex/deflex 64Think about the actual needs and buy accordingly. There's much to be said about a leatherman tool. I basically recreated one in individual tools.
One of those folding Torx and Allen tools is nice, she'll be assembling the Target pressboard furniture likely. A 16oz claw hammer, stud finder and some picture hanging nails. A good flashlight, doesn't have to be some tactical wonder. Lithium car battery jumper can be nice.
