I can see getting back from a few miles away because I’ve always heard that they travel up to 2 miles per day. But traveling 2 miles doesn’t even mean that they get 2 miles away, as they may travel a 2 mile loop. So in reality a squirrel probably never gets more than a few miles from home. I have a hard time believing he’ll get back from 7 miles away through the city. And if he does he just might remember that my house is no bueno. Time will tell.

They can travel up to 10 miles in one day if they really want to, but 2 miles is usually normal.

Yeah but it's the "through the city" part that probably makes the difference.

^^^^^^^^^^ I brake or swerve to avoid hitting them when they cross the street. Evidence indicates I'm the only one in town who does this. -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18

A couple of years ago I started live trapping the damned racoons in my yard. After I hit 17 I figured relocating wasn't working. The darned things had to be coming back. So I started spraying their butts orange. I ended up catching another 10 and to my surprise not a single one had an orange butt.

We had a squirrel in our attic, I contemplated chucking the gremlin (Mal/Dutchie) after some thought I decided that was a horrible idea and called pest control.
