Anything I should not miss? Is Buffalo worth a half day? Pittsburg worth half a day? Somewhere in one of the forests worth a half a day?

We have been to Cleveland and DC so I left those out of the zone.

Born and raised Pittsburgher here. Half a day would leave a few fun things to do and see around the downtown area. First, there is a Science Center on the North Shore area that is great to explore and very interactive and educational. There is a museum in the point area of the Fort Pitt blockhouse. There are 2 inclines open that you can ride from the river level up to Mount Washington overlooking the city view, which is spectacular. In the strip district area, there is a terminal building area that has recently opened with lots of shops and restaurants, and two neat miniature golf venues (Puttshack is one, Puttery is the other). Just across the Warhol bridge from downtown is the Andy Warhol museum, neat to see but not sure if the kids would dig it so much. In the strip near the terminal building is the original Primanti Brother's sandwich shop location too.

If its a nice day, the incline rides are just really great!

If you venture just a bit to the east of downtown Pittsburgh to the Oakland neighborhood, where the University of Pittsburgh campus is, there is the Carnegie Museum of Natural History that is worth a visit, definitely. The gothic tower on Pitt's campus has a series of Nationality -themed classrooms on the first floor and is right across the street from the Carnegie museum. A short distance from the Oakland museum is the Phipps Conservatory which is pretty large and has some beautiful seasonal floral displays. Smells great in there!

Second Carnegie Museum in Oakland part of Pittsburgh. If time allows, Fallingwater (Frank Lloyd Wright infamous home) is not too far from Pittsburgh.

Before we flew home out of Buffalo, we stopped by the Jello museum somewhere nearby.

Riveting.
