Good morning! We had good luck with the Royal Canin Digestive formula for our cat blessed with a sensitive stomach. It has become quite pricey and difficult to find. Any recommendations for an alternative, or a less expensive source for this food?

Our Corgi girl had food allergies. The vet prescribed a brand of dog food that really worked well.

It was prescription only, the local stores that carried it, like Petsmart, required a prescription in order to sell it.

Surprisingly, the vet who prescribed it sold it at a lower cost than any of the stores.

I'm not sure if you are using dry or wet food but we are using Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach - Lamb & Rice Formula Dry Cat Food. One of our cats has a sensitive stomach so they all get this since I'm not going to try to feed different foods to all the cats. So far, none of them are complaining. I use Petflow as my source. They have a 16 pound bag for $49.98 or two 16 pound bags for $80.96, which is what I buy. I have it on auto ship so I get a bit of a discount off of that. I think it's 10%.

We had been using that ProPlan formula, but all of a sudden on a new bag both of our cats started throwing it up, prompting a change to the Royal Cabin.

I sell royal canin and blue buffalo at my clinic. Yes certain varieties of royal canin have become unobtainable it seems. We've switched quite a few to a blue buffalo equivalent with no complaints.

You may want to give this a try, I feed both cat and dog this brand. based on their health before and after switching I've got no reason or desire to switch away.

purina one, sensitive skin/stomach, fixed dietary issues for my 2 cats.

As may be normal, a Purina ProPlan formula changed as did the bag for a friend with a very particular dog. The change is not welcome, and of course they leave for vacation having no supply of food that works.

Why share this seemingly unrelated story? Because it speaks to the need for a supplier with utmost attention to customer needs. I have found 15 years of Orijen kibble to be of utmost quality for my furry friends.

I am lucky. My cat will eat anything that wont eat him. He thrives on an insect based diet.

Thanks everyone, Mrs took a look at this thread and decided to give the Orijen a try. Will we how it goes.

We have been using Orijen for years. Recently I started to add some Whole Hearted Easy Digestion in sometimes to give them a bit of variety. Every Calico the Wife has had has been a barfer.

My own personal cat is eating the Royal Canin Urinary SO, so I feel your (financial) pain.

One side note I'd mention: if your cat starts vomiting more than a couple times a week, and persists for over a couple months, I advise getting a vet checkup. In cats puking can be caused by numerous issues, but persistent vomiting can mean GI inflammatory disease and that in turn (left unchecked) can lead to intestinal neoplasia. Better to try to stop it early! Not being an alarmist, but when you see this every week, and the clients say "I didn't think cats puking was a big deal," you learn to speak up early and often. My .02.

We don't have a cat but have had dogs with sensitive stomachs. Our vet sold prescription Hills and you can also find non-presription sensitive stomach cans at PetsMart/etc.

Worked wonders for us and our dogs.
