Wow, very sad. One of my all time favorites. I became a fan back in high school in the 70's with his "Damn the Torpedoes" album. Finally saw him in concert about 15 years ago when the Verizon Center opened in San Antonio and he was great. RIP, Tom.

Pissed at myself for saying "I'll see him next time" when he was in Atlanta just before the NRA Convention.

His official website has nothing as yet. I don't know, but a lot of major news outlets are saying he died.
And everyone, CBS, Fox, etc are basing the story off of TMZ's website. No official word from Petty's representatives, LE, hospital reps, etc. The LA Times, Petty's home newspaper has no word on the story. And TMZ is not even saying he is dead. I'll believe official confirmation, not TMZ.

Rock star Tom Petty is reportedly “clinging to life” after he was hospitalized and taken off life support Monday afternoon; a report from CBS News prematurely declared that he had died.
