Valpo Fz2014 Ford Focus?
Girlfriends daughter is looking at a one owner 14’ Focus with 61k miles. Not being familiar with them are there anything specifically I should look for? We are going to take it to our mechanic to get it checked out. From what I have found in the net they seem pretty reliable.

BigSwedeMay or may not pertain to that car and I am not certain it will cover a second or third owner

egregoreAutomatic transmission? If it has the
dual-clutch (actually more of an automatically shifted manual) transmission, this was a turd. If a stick or the conventional automatic (6-speed), it's a decent, if not spectacular, car.

jimmy123xI used to get them as rentals and actually preferred them. They're a nice handling, nice driving car, that had enough power to easily pass people and such, and were fun to drive and comfortable and i'm 6'3 and 250 lbs.

LBTRSDon't do it. I purchased a new 2014 Ford Focus SE for my daughters first car and it's a POS. There are known transmission problems and lawsuits. I don't know how you have missed this as it is all over the internet.
Ford has extended the warranty on the transmission but it is a pain to keep having the transmission repaired. Ours has been replaced and is acting up again.

dan03833I had a 2012 Focus. Shitty transmission. If the 14 has the same tranny, I'd pass.

FundmanIf it has the dual-clutch transmission run away. They had major defects.

PowerSurgeFor cars, you’ll be better served by the Japanese makes. Stay away from the big 3’s car offerings. Especially small cars.

PASigTell her to look for a Mazda3 or Honda Civic in that year instead.

KPSquaredI had a 2013 Focus ST...it was a wonderful car and I had no issues with it, but the driveline is much different than the average Focus.
My daughter also has a 2013 with dual clutch. It started to have all those problems with the transmission that made everybody hate the car. They extended her warranty and she got the car in to fix it late last year. The car drives great now and it’s like a totally different car and she’s quite happy with it now. Only get one if it’s been fixed....really fixed. It was terrible before she got it fixed.
Thanks,
KPSquared
